Dragonzord, ready—oops, wrong show.
Setchan: Previously on… Zenkaiger!
While the Zenkaigers were getting rocked by a romance-drama bomb — what's that? Stacy came by again?
Does he know something about Kaito's missing parents?

It's the height of summer, and Barashitara decides to send out Kabutomushi Wald to wreck havoc. An illusion suddenly takes the team under, forcing them to catch beetles and nothing else. To combat this, Setchan recruits Flint to build a new weapon while Zocks tries to deal with the Wald. Meanwhile, Stacy tries to figure out what happened to Kaito's parents.

Tropes

  • Ambiguous Situation: It isn't quite explained what happened to Kaito's parents, given what Stacy interacted with looked more akin to Off-Model avatar holograms rather than their actual person. Brain Uploading is highly implied to be in play given they were able to respond to Stacy's Trigger Phrase inputs and somehow send a signal to Setchan with just their consiousness.
  • Foreshadowing: A minor one in that Flint reveals she had a second Zenkaiju Gear made for Twokaizer, much to Setchan's dismay.
  • Mythology Gag: With Gear #27 - Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger being featured this episode, there are minor homages paid to it, including the Abbey Road walk mentioned below in Shout-Out doubling as an allusion to a similar scene done in the ending theme, as well as Ricky quoting Abare Killer's "tokimeku/exciting" catchphrase.
  • Shout-Out: Kabutomushi Wald fires his beam at a group of businessmen doing the Abbey Road Crossing, a fittingly punny The Beatles/Beetles reference.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Stacy's last attempt to awaken Kaito's parents by imitating him actually does trigger a response, which causes them to send a signal to Setchan to find the blueprints for the Zenkaiju Gear in their lab and initiate its production.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The main plot of the episode has the team trying to deal with Kabutomushi Wald, while the subplot has Stacy trying to figure out how to reawaken Kaito's parents to get some answers. Both events eventually cross and lead to the debut of the Zenkaiju Gear and Super Zenkaizer.
  • Wham Shot: Right at the start of the episode, Stacy investigates Ijirude's lab and finds Kaito's parents held prisoner in a state of stasis, and tries to awaken them to no initial avail.
