Kamen Rider Saber Spin-off: Kamen Rider Sabela & Kamen Rider Durendal is a one-off web episode that focuses on the titular Riders, Reika Shindai/Kamen Rider Sabela and Ryoga Shindai/Kamen Rider Durendal.

With Reika nearing her 25th birthday, Ryoga, as head of their family, decides to honor an arranged marriage between Reika and Rui Mitarai, the head of another prominent Sword of Logos family. However, not all is as it seems when it comes to this agreement, and Ryoga receives a clue that changes the whole situation.

Tropes:

  • And the Adventure Continues: The episode ends with the two siblings getting called for Rider duty and heading off.
  • Arranged Marriage: The plot of the episode centers on Reika's impending marriage to the head of another prominent Sword of Logos family.
  • The Cameo: Yume Miyamoto appears as a waitress whose voice reminds Reika of a certain someone.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The special focuses on the Shindai siblings, with Ryo/Buster and Ren/Kenzan being the only other Riders who appear as their civilian identities.
  • Go and Sin No More: Reika decides to have her brother spare Rui, on the condition that he turn over a new leaf instead.
  • Inheritance Murder: Ryoga reveals that he learned Rui had arranged for the death of his uncle, so he could become the head of their family; he then forged the will to have Reika marry him so he could take over the Sword of Logos for his own ends.
  • Knight Templar Big Brother: Ryoga's role in the story is to deconstruct this, exploring how his desire to protect Reika comes into conflict with the fact that she's a full-fledged swordswoman in her own right.
  • Old Maid: Discussed. With Reika nearing her 25th birthday, Ryoga finally feels the time is right for his sister to get hitched.
  • Poor Communication Kills: The plot is triggered by the fact that Ryoga arranges for Reika to get married without thinking to ask whether that's what she really wants, simply assuming she'd be happier and safer not being a swordswoman.
  • Spanner in the Works: Rui's plan would have succeeded without a hitch had it not been for Ren finding a pen on a Megid he had just defeated, which just so happened to have the Mitarai family crest on it.
  • Springtime for Hitler: Reika tries to bomb her meeting with Rui by acting slovenly at the table and overeating. The problem is that Rui is unfazed by her antics and decides to appeal to her desire for independence instead, which makes his plan work.
  • Time-Shifted Actor: Zigzagged. In a flashback Reika is portrayed by a child actress, but Ryoga is still played by the same actor, which has the effect of making their age gap even bigger.
  • Unholy Matrimony: Reika almost gets hitched with Rui, a man who fused with an Alter Ride Book in his pursuit of power.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: This mini-series' plot is one to the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny episode "Flight to Tomorrow", where the suitor from a powerful political family — Rui and Yuna — sets up an Arranged Marriage with the daughter of another high-profile familynote  for their own selfish purposes, only to be foiled by the brides' respective older brothers, Ryoga and Kira, respectively. They even bust up the ceremony via using their version of the series gimmick (Ryoga runs in transformed, Kira lands his Gundam in the middle of the reception) to rush in and abduct the bride. The main difference is that Rui does a much better job of concealing his villainy and is only outed because a piece of evidence links him to his crimes, while Yuna is openly flaunting his motives and relying on his power and the situation to force Cagalli to comply.
  • You Sound Familiar: Lampshaded with the waitress at Rui and Reika's meeting, who's played by Yume Miyamoto.
Reika: What a positively magical voice! You sound just like her!
    Waitress: Mmm-mmm-mmm?! I-I do?
