Little did they know they were actually fighting their own friend...

Having found the traitor within the Sword of Logos, Rintaro rejoins Touma's group and reconciles with them. Mei bears witness to their reconcilation and thinks about what she can do to help the swordsmen, but Storious and Zooous suddenly create a new Megid which suddenly attacks them. The swordsmen try to fight it, but make a horrible discovery as to who actually is the monster. What will become of its host? And will Touma and Rintaro be able to save them?

Episode Tropes:

  • Break Them by Talking: The Megid liberally abuse this to torture Rintaro.
  • The Corrupter: Desast tries to convince Ren to join him and maybe become a Megid.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: If Yuri weren't so intent on finding Tassel, then the events of this episode would have been far less traumatic for our heroes.
  • Damsel in Distress: Mei gets turned into the Neko Megid this episode.
  • Despair Event Horizon: The Neko Megid emotionally tortures Rintaro to the point he suicidally charges Zooous in blind despair.
  • Heroic BSoD: Having to be saved by Touma so many times and the Megids' emotional-prodding pushes Rintaro into one.
  • Hope Spot: For Rintaro - things seem to be looking up now that he's welcomed back by Touma and the Northern Base gang, even getting to taste an éclair for the first time. then the rest of the episode hits, and our Swordsman of Water is put through the wringer big time.
  • Kick the Dog: The Neko Megid not only insults Rintaro constantly, but she attributes her insults to Mei.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Seeing the normally collected Rintaro go berserk over his worry over Mei certainly counts.
    • The preview for the next episode not being set to the opening theme highlights just how dire the situation is for our heroes, especially after the events of this episode.
  • Sadistic Choice: Zooous attempts to finish off a defeated Rintaro, forcing Touma between saving his friend or separating his other friend Mei from the Neko Megid. Touma decides to save Rintaro, allowing the Neko Megid to get away this time.
  • Stupid Sacrifice: Rintaro's Rage Breaking Point causes him to throw himself needlessly at Zooous out of sheer desperation. Touma notices this and saves him.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Rintaro gets put through one big time. Mei gets turned into the Neko Megid, causing him and Touma no end of grief. Second, Both Zooous and the Neko Megid exploit this big time by tormenting Rintaro physically and emotionally.
  • Villain Forgot to Level Grind: Averted by Zooous, who points out that he's had time to get stronger and hunt more prey as the Sword of Logos was distracted due to recent events.
