Recap / Kaeloo S 1 E 7 Lets Play Trap Trap

Go To

Kaeloo forces Quack Quack to go for on hour without yogurt. To take his mind off things, she suggests that they play a game of trap-trapnote .

"Let's Play Trap-Trap" contains the following tropes:

  • Bittersweet Ending: Quack Quack gets his yogurt stash back, which finally calms him down, but not before eating half of Kaeloo's brain. Mr. Cat also gets beaten up even though he put in an effort to save his friends.
  • Blatant Lies: When Kaeloo sees Mr. Cat holding a mallet to hit Quack Quack:
Kaeloo: What's that in your hand?
Mr. Cat: It's a wart. I should really see a skin doctor.
  • Brick Joke: Near the beginning of the episode, Mr. Cat asks if he can team up with Kaeloo for the game. Kaeloo happily hugs him and tells him it was very nice of him to want her on his team. Later in the episode, Kaeloo gets angry at Mr. Cat and is about to beat him up as usual, and he asks her if she can hug him again.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: See G-Rated Drug below.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Stumpy isn't dumb enough to confront an insane cannibal, so Mr. Cat is forced to do it himself.
Stumpy: I may be nuts, but I'm not crazy.
  • Fireball Eyeballs: Quack Quack gets these several times over the course of the episode since he's being deprived of yogurt by Kaeloo, which is making him angry and slowly driving him insane.
  • Furry Reminder: At the start of the episode, Mr. Cat is casually lounging around on a tree branch.
  • The Glomp: Kaeloo hugs Mr. Cat for asking her to be on his team.
  • G-Rated Drug: You'd be hard-pressed to find an episode like this that proves that yogurt is basically the equivalent of drugs in Smileyland.
  • Hammered into the Ground: Mr. Cat gets beaten up by Quack Quack and/or Kaeloo offscreen and winds up with his entire body except his head smashed into the ground.
  • Meat-O-Vision: Quack Quack hallucinates Kaeloo and Stumpy as yogurts after not eating any for nearly an hour.
  • Nailed to the Wagon: Kaeloo hides Quack Quack's yogurt stash for an hour so he can't eat any. This backfires heavily, to say the least.
  • Nightmare Face: Quack Quack's yogurt withdrawl has him pull several of these.
  • No Party Like a Donner Party: Quack Quack tries to cannibalize Kaeloo and Stumpy after undergoing "yogurt withdrawal" and hallucinating them as giant yogurts. Mr. Cat manages to rescue them, but not before Quack Quack eats half of Kaeloo's brain.
  • Skewed Priorities: Kaeloo is angry at Mr. Cat for giving Quack Quack yogurt even though he was doing it to save everyone's lives.
  • Surprisingly Creepy Moment: The episode starts off with a seemingly normal plot where Kaeloo, Stumpy, Quack Quack and Mr. Cat play a nice game of Trap-Trap, with the beginning being so sweet that Kaeloo even gives Mr. Cat a hug. Then, halfway through the episode, Quack Quack goes insane, tries to cannibalize Kaeloo and Stumpy, and successfully eats half of Kaeloo's brain, leaving her unintelligible. Mr. Cat has to step in and save the day.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Stumpy escapes Quack Quack's rampage unscathed, especially compared to Kaeloo and Mr. Cat.
  • Who Even Needs a Brain?: Kaeloo manages to survive half of her brain being eaten and only experiences mild problems with thinking and speaking.
