Recap / Kaeloo S 1 E 19 Lets Play House

Go To

Kaeloo ropes the others into Playing House, but their actions make her realize that running a family is not as fun or easy as she thought.

"Let's Play House" contains the following tropes:

  • Affectionate Nickname: Mr. Cat gives Kaeloo the nickname "coochy-coo".
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: Mr. Cat sees Quack Quack running and remarks on it to the audience.
Mr. Cat: That's my little girl, running around in just her underwear... they grow up so fast.
  • Batman Gambit: Mr. Cat wants to watch sports on TV instead of playing with the others. First, when Kaeloo annoys the "kids" so much that they decide to run away from home, he does nothing about it and makes them even more annoyed so they leave. Then, after they leave, he says he wants to have sex with Kaeloo, who gets creeped out and leaves. As soon as all this is over, he turns the TV on to watch some sports. However, his plan fails since by the time he gets rid of them, his game is over.
  • Blah, Blah, Blah: Stumpy hears Kaeloo's speech on how he should eat the food she gave him as "blah blah blah".
  • Dysfunctional Family: Played for Laughs with Kaeloo as the overbearing and strict mother, Mr. Cat as the father who abuses his children and only cares about having sex with Kaeloo, Stumpy as the rude and rebellious son and Quack Quack as the "daughter" who is bossed around by Kaeloo and gets annoyed by her.
  • Marital Rape License: Mr. Cat tries to have sex with Kaeloo without asking her first and says he is "exercising his marital rights". Fortunately, she gets up and walks away before he does anything.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Mr. Cat's plan to watch sports on TV by himself fails because by the time he gets rid of everybody, the game is over.
  • Parental Favoritism: Kaeloo constantly forces Stumpy to do homework while Quack Quack is allowed to enjoy watching television. Later, Kaeloo serves yogurt, Quack Quack's Trademark Favorite Food which Stumpy hates, for dinner, and tells him he should be more like Quack Quack.
  • Playing House: The title says it all.
