Go To

The Embassy is beset by rioters and evacuated when Reyes accuses the U.S. of fixing the election, but Jack, Greer and November stay behind to continue to fight. Matice and his team encounter resistance in their rescue of Marcus.

Tropes:

  • Anyone Can Die: Matice is killed by Reyes' soldiers.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Despite having gone to retrieve Uber, the team ends up being rescued by him when he hears gunfire and sneaks up on their attackers.
  • Bookcase Passage: When the Embassy is evacuated, November leads Jack and Greer into a bunker accessed through a fake electrical box in a basement. Inside is a Survivalist Stash full of guns, grenades and other goodies that the guys tool up with before heading out.
  • Cliffhanger: Greer is captured.
  • Darkest Hour: Reyes publicly accuses the U.S. of interfering with the election, casting doubt on Gloria Bonalde's campaign in the process. Matice is killed, and his body used to validate the accusation. The Venezuelan public is incensed against the U.S. to the extent of besieging and storming the Embassy, which is evacuated. Jack, Greer and November stay behind to continue the investigation, but Greer is captured.
  • Defiant to the End: Matice dies flipping off his soon-to-be killers.
  • Draw Aggro: Matice lures Reyes' soldiers away from Uber and the rest of the team while they escape with the LiDAR scanner. He dies.
  • Due to the Dead: Averted. Matice's body is taken to the prison camp, where it's unceremoniously flung about by the soldiers, who proceed to remove clothing and jeer at their fallen foe. It's implied further disrespect is forthcoming, but the team leave before it's shown. Later, Matice's body is displayed on the news as proof that the U.S. is interfering in the Venezuelan election.
  • Dying Moment of Awesome: Using his rifle, pistol and grenades, Matice kills about half a dozen of Reyes' soldiers despite already being wounded before they manage to kill him.
  • MacGuffin: The LiDAR scanner stolen by Uber when he rescues the team from an ambush. None of them know what it is, but recognise that it's important, so Matice orders it to be brought to Jack immediately.
  • No-Sell: Jack and Greer try to go undercover at Monica Herrera's "law firm" (actually a company that sets up shell companies), but she clearly recognises them and calls the police.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Jack, Greer and November, when footage of Greer shaking Gloria Bonalde's hand is shown as corroboration of Reyes' accusations. And again, when Matice's body is displayed on the Venezuelan news.
    • Jack, when the car being driven by a disguised November with him hidden inside is pulled over at a roadblock. Other than a tense moment when the car won't start, everything's fine.
  • Punk in the Trunk: Jack and Greer are smuggled out of the Embassy in specially-modified cars with a hidden compartment. Not that it helps Greer, whose driver just delivers him to the enemy.
  • Shout-Out:
    • When scoping out Monica Herrera's office, Greer pretends to be a Canadian coffee baron called Timothy Horton.
    • When Reyes asks if Jack and Greer are familiar with polo, Jack sarcastically says that Ralph Lauren makes a great shirt.
  • Title Drop: November describes Jack as a persona non grata due to Reyes' accusations.
