When Dr. Claw returns, Penny and Brain must bring Inspector Gadget out of retirement in order to foil a scheme that's been several years in the making.
In the Antarctic, within an iceberg, Dr. Claw stirs. He (and MADCat have at last been revived by a mysterious MAD agent, who Claw immediately tasks with recovering his claw. Said claw was lost during the battle with Inspector Gadget that resulted in Claw himself being frozen into an iceberg. The agent assures Claw he has a plan.
Penny is in training as a Junior HQ agent, though her training session doesn't go well. She is called up to Chief Quimby's office and introduced to a new agent named Talon, a young man who instantly connects with her. Chief Quimby then reveals that Dr. Claw has returned and is in search of his lost claw. Penny realises that only Inspector Gadget knows where the claw is, and HQ quickly brings him out of retirement.
Talon turns out to be Claw's nephew, and upon learning the location of the claw quickly reveals himself and escapes, leaving Penny both heartbroken and furious. She, Gadget and Brain rush to the claw's location and find it, but Talon successfully steals it away.
The three heroes then make their way to the Antarctic, where Dr. Claw reveals his claw as the key to launching a powerful Stink Missile that would make HQ's...HQ unusable. However, Talon is waiting for their arrival...
This episode contains examples of:
- Bad Boss: Unsurprisingly, Dr. Claw. At the climax he even launches missiles at Gadget even as Talon is actually in front of said missiles!
- Early-Installment Weirdness: Dr. Claw identifies Penny as "(Gadget's) pesky niece" here, but in later episodes has absolutely no idea who she is, much to Talon's frustration.
- Everyone Can See It: Both Brain and Chief Quimby immediately recognise there's a mutual attraction between Talon and Penny.
- Evil-Detecting Dog: Brain sees right through Talon's deception.
- Killer Rabbit: The penguin robots Talon sics on Penny are adorable...until they reveal their helicopter blades and try to slice her to bits.
- Love at First Sight: What Penny feels when she first meets Talon. It's pretty clear he reciprocates, and this is part of the reason she's so furious when Talon reveals himself as Dr. Claw's nephew.
- Here We Go Again!: Brain is less than pleased when he realises that HQ intends to call Inspector Gadget out of retirement.
- Human Popsicle: Dr. Claw and MADCat have apparently spent several years frozen solid in the Antarctic. Dr. Claw's quite cranky when he's revived.
- Took a Level in Badass: Inspector Gadget now includes several potentially lethal weapons in his armaments, including lasers, missiles and a mine. And not a landmine either, the type of mine used to sink ships!
- Penny definitely qualifies, as she is able to face off with goons twice her size and come out on top.
- Ungrateful Bastard: Despite Talon's role in reviving him and recovering his claw, Dr. Claw pretty much treats him like garbage.
- Woman Scorned: Penny swears revenge on Talon for betraying her...er, everyone in HQ. Chief Quimby doesn't buy it.
