After accidentally seeing Nagi naked, Hayate is told to leave the mansion for a few days to let Nagi blow off steam. After spending the small loan of a million yen received from Maria, Hinagiku finds him in the cold without a jacket, and invites him to stay at her house, and so begins Hina's character arc revolving around the Love Triangle between her, Ayumu, and Hayate. After she runs into Ayumu in the street, they find a stray kitten. They then take it back to Hina's house and become friends, and Hinagiku promises to support Ayumu in her efforts to court Hayate. When Hayate goes back to the mansion, Nagi adopts the kitten, naming it Shiranui and putting Tama in the position of the jealous older brother.
