As Cro-Marmot makes his rounds in his ice cream truck, he notices Lumpy the championship surfer with his huge stack of trophies. Envious of Lumpy's popularity, Cro-Marmot decides to enter today's surfing competition and win a trophy for himself.
"Wipe Out!" contains the following:
- An Arm and a Leg: Lumpy tries to juggle chainsaws while surfing and, of course, he gets his arms chopped off.
- Bizarrchitecture: Cro-Marmot's house is revealed in this episode: an igloo on a snowy mountain protected by a giant dome, making it look like a snow globe.
- Coconut Meets Cranium: Flaky's death combines this with a Yank the Dog's Chain moment after escaping a shiver of sharks, presumably as a nod to the statistic that you're more likely to be injured via this trope than getting attacked by a shark.
- Cruel and Unusual Death:
- Nutty eats a sea urchin by accident, and its spikes impale his head, causing him to fall into a tidepool and drown.
- Mole zips up Handy's wetsuit, only to have the zipper get caught in his fur. He then tries to zip down, ripping Handy's skin and organs out of his body.
- Cuddles falls of his surfboard while catching a wave and fatally falls on a buoy.
- Lumpy gets his stomach sliced open when he lands on a surfboard with its fin facing up, and is then painfully carved into a surfboard by an unaware Mole.
- A Day in the Limelight: Putting aside that this is let alone one of Cro-Marmot's very few starring roles, this is his only starring role in the TV series.
- Feathered Fiend: The seagulls have a taste for blood as they chow down on Handy, Cuddles, and Flaky.
- Flayed Alive: What happens to poor Lumpy when he lands on The Mole's surfboard-carving workbench. Because The Mole is wearing headphones, he can't hear Lumpy's screams of pain as he shaves bits of him off until his corpse looks like a surfboard.
- Juggling Dangerously: To impress the judges, Lumpy juggles chainsaws while surfing. It goes as well as expected.
- Hairstyle Malfunction: After Lumpy gets his arms cut off while juggling chainsaws, his blonde mullet (actually a wig) flies off, much to his embarrassment, though this ends up becoming the least of his problems.
- Human Pincushion: Nutty eats a sea urchin, mistaking it for ice cream, and its spikes protrude out of his face, causing him to fall into a tidepool and drown.
- An Ice Person: Cro-Marmot somehow freezes the entire ocean shore once he falls into the water, freezing the giant waves in place.
- New Job as the Plot Demands:
- Lumpy is a surfer.
- The Mole runs a surfboard shop.
- Sea Hurtchin: Nutty mistakes one for a scoop of ice cream he dropped, which gets him impaled through his mouth, causing him to topple into a tidepool and drown.
- Surfer Dude: Lumpy's persona for this episode is a championship-winning surfer.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Flaky, Cuddles, Handy, Lumpy, and Nutty die.
- Threatening Shark: Flaky ends up being menaced by an army of them while she's in the water. Miraculously, she survives the encounter, only to be killed by a falling coconut seconds later.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: Giggles, Petunia, Cro-Marmot, The Mole, Toothy, and Sniffles survive.
- Tongue on the Flagpole: Giggles and Petunia give a kiss to Cro-Marmot for winning the championship and promptly get their lips stuck on the ice.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: After Flaky escapes a huge pack of hungry sharks, she hugs a palm tree in gratitude, only for a coconut to bust her skull open, resulting in a flock of seagulls eating her alive.
