The GCPD races to hunt down Ivy before she can enact mass murder on Gotham's elite. Bruce attempts to reconnect with Alfred. Ed takes desperate steps to restrain his Riddler persona.
Tropes
- A-Team Firing: The thugs that Ivy hypnotized open fire with their machine guns on the Wayne Foundation banquet, but don't actually seem to hit anyone.
- The Bad Guy Wins: Penguin helps Riddler take over Ed and recruits his help to escape Arkham, while Sofia seizes control of the Narrows from Lee.
- Batman Gambit: The letter Penguin sent Ed contained a hidden message for the Riddler, which he uses to manipulate Ed into going to Arkham, where Penguin is able to give a twisted motivational speech to give the Riddler full control back.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Ivy pulls this trick again, this time on Harvey.
- Bullying a Dragon: Lee tries this with Sofia. It does not end well.
- The Bus Came Back: Samson, the crime boss Lee usurped control of the Narrows from, returns to take the neighborhood back as Sofia's underboss.
- Driven to Suicide: Ed is willing to hang himself to stop the Riddler from ever taking over again, but is convinced to institutionalize himself instead.
- Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Ivy cannot understand why Selina is willing to stop her from killing more people, thinking that her victims deserved what they got.
- Fingore: Sofia shatters one of Lee's hands with a hammer.
- Friendless Background: Bruce's hedonistic spree burned a lot of bridges with those close to him, so of course they're not so willing to forgive him immediately just because he says he's changed. Alfred does forgive him in the end, after Bruce's heartfelt speech and his subsequent return to the ballroom battlefield.
- Internal Reveal:
- Lee finds out about Jim's affair with Sofia.
- Jim confesses to Harvey everything that happened with Sofia and Pyg.
- Let's You and Him Fight: Jim mistakes a disguised Bruce for one of Ivy's Mooks and shoots him. Thankfully, Bruce's bulletproof vest worked perfectly, and he was able to escape.
- Mythology Gag: The distortion on the recording Ivy distributes through Gotham repeatedly makes her skin appear bright green.
- Never My Fault: The main force behind Harvey's anger towards Jim has been blaming him for losing the captaincy of the GCPD, ignoring how unfit he proved himself to be.
- Out-Gambitted: Lee completely overestimates her power trying to make a deal with Sofia and pays for it. They meet unarmed only for her goons to suddenly pull guns out from hiding to take down Lee's guards.Lee: My people will tear you apart!Sofia: Your people? Who do you think planted these guns?
- Ed realizes too late how the Riddler and Oswald manipulated him into checking himself into Arkham.
- Revenge by Proxy: Sofia brutalizes and humiliates Lee in order to make Jim suffer.
- Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Ivy's main goal is to kill everyone who's ever hurt her, before moving on to everyone else in the city.
- Split-Personality Takeover: The Riddler personality takes full control of Ed's body.
- Villainous Friendship: Penguin and Riddler reaffirm theirs, and their alliance.
