  • Irony: Lorelai and Luke might not have broken up if Taylor, who ships them out of economic pragmatism, hadn't decided they had already broken up.
  • "Jump Off a Bridge" Rebuttal: To mock Rory's blind faith in manuals, Lorelai asks: if it said in the car manual to drive it off a cliff, would you? Rory says she would.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Lorelai's verbatim reaction when she hangs up after begging Luke to come over and comfort her.
  • Nice to the Waiter: Rory treats Logan's driver Frank like a friend. She even shares food with him, which is the biggest friendhsip gesture in this universe.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Luke still considers Rory the little girl who invited people to a caterpillar's funeral.
  • Poker: Logan is playing poker with his friends when Rory comes over.
  • Product Placement: Cereal gets a lot of hype. Lane buys Toll cookie dough.
  • Sarcasm Mode: Paris is in this mode even when half asleep.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Paris thinks Rory could have deduced that she was asleep, like Sherlock Holmes.
    • Paris thinks Rory's best man attire is her dressing like kd lang.
    • The movie playing in the theatre is The Philadelphia Story.
    • Michel thinks dolls are too Bride of Chucky.
    • Lorelai guesses that Sookie got her dark story about a couple getting back together as senior citizens from Katie Kouric. She is right.
    • Nietzsche and Wittgenstein went "ape guano" over cornflakes according to Paris.
    • It annoys Paris that Logan has hair and a chin like a fourth Bee Gee.
    • Paris says to Rory that they're daughters of Emma Goldman and Hillary Clinton.
    • Paris claims Althea and Janet know more about boys than did the Brontes.
    • Rory tells Logan she learned all she knows about poker from The Odd Couple.

  • Title Drop: When Lorelai tells her cinema self to "say something" in her dream.
