Tropes

  • Amusing Injuries: Sookie drops something heavy on her foot and needs medical care. She's the one who is amused, with everyone else being concerned, but she is too happy to be back after maternal leave to let a maybe-broken foot get her down.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Kyon shouts at Lane in Korean.
  • Captain Obvious: Emily would rather not have Richard tell her what Lorelai did to offend them, she knows perfectly well that Lorelai kept her relationship with Jason a secret.
  • Chekhov's Skill: Lorelai uses her knowledge of hotel databases to find out what hotel and room her mother is staying in.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Hep Alien printed their flyers on a menu from Gil's business, and Kirk wonders what you have to do to get the sandwich.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Lane is not happy about Kyon living in her room.
  • Hypocrite:
    • Floyd has a problem with Jason taking clients away from him, which Jason didn't – but zero problem stealing Jason's clients when Richard leaves Jason's business to work with Floyd.
    • Lorelai breaks up with Jason because he sues Richard for actual damages Richard did to his career and reputation.
  • Insistent Terminology: Richard declares that Americans are extremely fat. Lorelai thinks they prefer "rubenesque".
  • Mood Dissonance: Sookie is so happy to be back at work that she doesn't let breaking her foot ruin her day.
  • No, You: Luke catches up with Lorelai on the street, and she starts vehemently denying that she did anything he could yell at her for. Luke points out that he wasn't yelling, he just said "hey", and adds that Lorelai is a lot of work.
Lorelai: No, you're a lot of work!
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Richard and Emily are awfully friendly. Emily lets the maid of the week be sarcastic to her. Lorelai is so weirded out she almost declines chocolate.
  • Open Secret: That Asher Flemming has a girlfriend from the student body every year.
  • Product Placement: Mail Boxes Etc.
