Recap / Full House S 7 E 18 Kissing Cousins

Go To

"Kissing Cousins" is the eighteenth episode in Season 7 of Full House.

Jesse returns from Papouli's funeral in Greece, and brings along his cousin Stavros to stay at the house for a few days. However, Stavros' sloppy habits and swindling personality provoke the ire of the family, and they soon discover that he's hatching a plot for some easy money.

Episode tropes:

  • Blatant Lies: Stavros has DJ pay for his $20 pizza because he only has drachmas on him, even though he had just won $20 from Joey during a game of gin.
  • Broken Pedestal: Jesse thinks the world of Cousin Stavros and treats him like a loving brother. When he finally finds out that Stavros is a con man, he's greatly hurt and disappointed.
  • Breather Episode: This story is much lighter fare compared the previous episode, which was a heavy, emotional story about a death in the family.
  • Brick Joke: The episode opens with Danny practicing his karate skills with Joey. During the climax, he attempts to stop Stavros with karate… to no avail.
  • Dance Party Ending: After Stavros' defeat, Jesse and the gang keep the party going with another Greek dance.
  • Engineered Public Confession: Hiding a microphone in a bouquet of flowers, Becky seduces Stavros into revealing his entire plan, broadcasting his confession to everyone at the charity event.
  • Fake Charity: Stavros convinces the Tanners that his hometown of Polopolis was ravaged by a mudslide, and they put together a charity dance marathon to raise relief money. Of course, this is all just a big lie: Stavros really plans on taking the cash for himself and flying to Florida.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Stavros reveals that he's incredibly envious of his cousin Jesse, and was tired of hearing about his successful life in America.
Stavros: Look at you. All I am hearing in Greece is about Jesse in America. How wonderful job is, beautiful wife, perfect family…
  • Hard Truth Aesop: Sometimes the family you admire are just manipulative scumbags taking advantage of you.
  • Lazy Bum: The amount of days Stavros has ever worked throughout his life is... one. He calls it the worst day of his life.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: At the dance marathon, Stavros carelessly tosses his coat onto Michelle; when Stephanie takes it off, his plane ticket falls out of the pocket, revealing his scheme to take the money and bounce.
  • Slimeball: Stavros in spades. He's greedy, manipulative, and willing to con his own family out of their money. He even makes a pass on his own cousin's wife.
  • Story Arc: This episode directly follows the events of "The Last Dance", with Jesse returning from Greece after his great-grandfather's funeral.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Stavros looks just like Jesse, but with a larger nose, greasy hair, and a mustache (he is played by John Stamos in a dual role). Both Nicky and Alex mistake him for their dad at first.
