When Honey offers to help Emery with his new dream of becoming an actor, Jessica doesn't approve, leading to a feud in which both women give each other unwanted help. - Casual Kink: In The Tag, after Evan calls in Grandma Jenny to give The Talk to his Beanie Babies, she starts by pouring syrup onto a male mannequin torso lying on the ground.
- From the Mouths of Babes: When Eddie and Louis finally manage to give The Talk, not only has Evan already looked up the relevant information himself, he informs Eddie that he's about to hit a sexual peak (and that it's all downhill from there) and Louis that his man-parts will start failing in the near future.
- Generation Xerox: At one point, Jessica decides to "help" Honey by inviting Honey's in-laws (Marvin's parents) over, Martin and Candy. Both men are clearly older than their respective spouses, and both Marvin and Martin have a habit of gesticulating (and accidentally knocking objects over) when they talk.
- Innocent Blue Eyes: Evan seems to get these whenever Louis or Eddie try to initiate The Talk with him, making them hesitate. In The Tag, Evan envisions a similar effect when he tries practicing The Talk with his Beanie Baby collection, and ends up calling in Grandma Jenny to talk to the toys.
- Letting the Air out of the Band: When Eddie first hears from Evan that he's entered his sexual peak, it plays the usual "Yeah!" sound and music riff that's heard throughout the series whenever something cool happens. When Eddie then hears that it's all downhill from there, the riff plays again but the voice instead says "No!".
- Shout-Out: The school play that Emery's preparing to be in is for Grease.
- The Talk: The B Plot is centered around giving Evan one. In the end, it turns out to be completely unnecessary, because Evan had already gotten the relevant information from microfiche at the library.
- Unwanted Assistance: The A Plot centers around Jessica and Honey feuding by providing this for each other.
