Go To

Louis considers buying back Kenny Rogers' stake in Cattleman's Ranch, but he starts to doubt his instincts as sole owner, so Jessica tries to convince him to take action. Evan gives up watching "Regis and Kathie Lee" for Lent, but Eddie and Emery decide to mess with him.

  • Both Sides Have a Point: When it comes to decisions like regaining full ownership of Cattleman's, Louis believes that rushing into things without considering all of the consequences will lead to trouble, while Jessica believes that taking decisive action prevents opportunities from passing them by. Grandma Jenny settles it by saying they're both right and that they balance each other like Yin and Yang.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: When Eddie and Emery realize they're giving Evan a crisis of faith and confess to pulling a prank on him, Evan decides their punishment should be reenacting the episodes of Regis and Kathie Lee that he's been missing, technically keeping his Lent promise.
  • Cutting the Knot: After Grandma's Both Sides Have a Point speech, during which she draws a Yin-Yang symbol in an activity booklet, she notices a maze on the next page and draws a straight line from the Start directly to the Goal through all of the walls.
  • Going Commando: The fib that Eddie and Emery decide to tell Evan is that Regis and Kathie talked about Jesus doing this, as underwear didn't exist back then.
  • It's All About Me: It turns out that Jessica immediately bought back their shares in Cattleman's Ranch as soon as she was able to, but still spent the entire main plotline convincing Louis that buying back the shares immediately is better than debating the consequences, just to win an argument.
  • Loophole Abuse: When Jessica wants a Vision Quest of her own, Marvin refuses to give her nitrous gas, as it would go against his medical oaths. She then asks if he could leave the room for a short bit while Honey gives her the gas, which Marvin turns out to be completely fine with.
  • Opinion-Changing Dream: In The Tag, although Jessica's earlier Vision Quest didn't change her mind about how she makes decisions, she does decide to fire her psychic because she envisioned said psychic putting her in danger and then marrying Louis after her death.
  • Vision Quest: After a psychic Jessica hires not only fails to help Louis reach a decision but also upsets him enough that he chips a tooth, he goes to Marvin for dental work; while under nitrous gas, he has a vision of a "past life" of his that the psychic described (a turtle whose friend Carl gets run over while in a hurry to cross a road) that convinces him not to rush ahead with his business decisions. Upset that Louis had a vision when she hasn't, Jessica rushes over to Marvin's office and takes a hit of nitrous herself, envisioning herself as having died and reincarnated as a boy born to Marvin and Honey; although her own vision involves getting circumcised against her will because of Marvin and Honey taking immediate action, she also learns that she died because she didn't notice an oncoming disaster due to being too preoccupied making a decision, ultimately reinforcing her belief that immediate action is still better than debate.
