Recap / Frasier S 03 E 13 Moon Dance

Go To

On Martin's advice, Niles asks a woman to a high-society ball, but panics when he realizes he can't dance, so Daphne gives him lessons in Frasier's apartment, and the two of them have a great time.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Declaration of Love: Niles accidentally tells Daphne he loves her while they're dancing a tango. Luckily for him she thinks he was just caught up in the Dance of Romance.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: What Niles and Daphne's First Kiss was, from Niles's perspective.
  • Dance of Romance: Niles accidentally tells Daphne he loves her while they're dancing a tango. Luckily for him she thinks he was just caught up in the dance.
  • Demoted to Extra: Frasier only appears in two brief scenes at the beginning and end of the episode to allow Kelsey Grammer to focus on directing the episode.
  • Fake-Out Make-Out: What Niles and Daphne's First Kiss was, from Daphne's perspective.
  • First Kiss: Between Niles and Daphne. They will not kiss again until their Relationship Upgrade at the end of season 7.
  • I Can't Dance: Niles needs Daphne to teach him how to dance for the ball as he never learned. Apparently Maris didn't approve of "public displays of rhythm" so he never danced with her at other balls he's attended.
  • I'm Going to Disney World!: Frasier is written out of the episode with the excuse that he's taking Freddie to Colonial Williamsburg. When he tells Roz about his plans she uses this trope to tease him.
Roz: "Hey, Frederick Crane, you've just finished the first grade, what are you gonna do now?" [as Freddie] "I'm going to Butterworld!"
  • Lady in Red: Daphne wears a slinky red dress to the ball.
  • The Voice: Jodie Foster as radio caller Marlene.
