Soma and Subaru's match continues, as Subaru has been doing his deep investigation on Soma to up his game.
This episode provides examples of:
- Adaptation Expansion: Isami goes with Takumi to the Tournament, while in the manga Takumi went alone.
- Adapted Out: The gag where Hinako is staring at Megumi across the arena is deleted.
- Confusion Fu: Soma adopts this strategy, after seeing how Subaru utterly dominated Takumi with his Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better Power Copying. He knows Subaru will copy his dish and do it better, so he improvises with secret ingredients partway through, when it's too late for Subaru to change anything.
- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Unlike all the other 99 students who quickly took back their tools, Takumi refused to retrieve his Mezzaluna and vowed to gain it back after defeating both Subaru and Soma in a proper Shokugeki.
- Evolving Credits: In the ending Snow Drop, the person in the flower field this time is Subaru.
- Freudian Excuse: Subaru remembers that his bad behaviour started when his father got mad at him and basically ditched him at Tootsuki.
- Graceful Loser: After his defeat, Subaru accepts that Soma surpassed him despite his "Perfect Tracing" and considered quitting cooking. Soma quickly scolded him and encouraged Subaru to use his talents for good.
- Impossibly Delicious Food:
- Subaru presented his Beef Stew with Bacon Garnish, which followed Soma's base Oxtail stew, adding a special bacon made with a special five-day marinated pork smoked with mesquite wood. The flavors of both the beef and the pork were so strong that it created a cross-impact with the judges.
- On the other hand, Soma's Beef Stew: Autumn Election Special went a step further by adding as garnish unconventional beef cuts like tongue, fillet, beef cheeks, tripe, liver and skirt. All these textures created a mixture and variety that made the judges feel the thrills of an amusement park.
- Sore Loser: Subaru only wanted approval from his father, but he continued to dismiss him everytime. The time Subaru tried to impress him by perfecting his special recipe, he instead got mad at him and abandoned in Tootsuki.
- The Stinger: In the post-credits scene, Erina points out that Soma still hasn't given her the next volume of the manga she asked for.
- Technician Versus Performer: In this case, Subaru is the Technician, following a strategy based on study Soma's every move and apply his own twists to enhance Soma's original plan. On the other hand, Soma decided to be a Performer even to the last minute, where he decided to make his stew not only improvising during the time given, but also applying all the tricks and experimentation he has been working on during his entire life.
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: Subaru just wanted his father's approval, but his father couldn't handle the fact that his son had Surpassed the Teacher.
- When She Smiles: Taki, the most skeptical of the judges, ended up enjoying the dish so much that she smiled during the whole foodgasm, much to her own emabrrasment.
