Partly a prequel to the second season cliffhanger that explains what actually happened to Foster during a TV broadcast exposé. The anti-Gua group Raven Nation and a new quest to defeat Gua leader Mabus are introduced.

- Big Damn Heroes: The very intense redhead in the church, who shoots the Gua who has Cade at gunpoint, then slips Cade a medallion and leaves. And Jordan Radcliffe enters the story.
- Faking the Dead: Eddie shot the clone of Cade on live TV, resulting in Cade being officially declared dead.
- How We Got Here: The opening narration is Eddie's, as he recounts his shooting of Cade on live TV in the previous episode, and promises to explain why. The narrative jumps back a few days to show what happened in the days leading up to the shooting.
- Giving Them the Strip: Cade sneaks into the main tent at the Gua camp, where he finds a tank containing a clone of himself. Realising a Gua is about to come in and that there's nowhere to hide, Cade gets naked so the Gua thinks he's the clone, then clobbers him when he goes to put him back in the tank.
- Refuge in Audacity: Cade's use of the Gua's own clone of himself against him. First when he gets the jump on a Gua by posing as the clone, then by using it to fake his death.
- "Shaggy Dog" Story: Alice, the high-ranking Gua scientist who steals Mabus' orb and buries it in the church, then commits suicide to avoid capture. Cain finds the orb anyway, but in the process Cade learns about Mabus, makes contact with Raven Nation and steals the clone of himself.
