Chapter One:
Summoning of Heroes
Tokiomi Tohsaka is preparing to summon the Servant he believes will guarantee his victory in the fourth Holy Grail War, when he is visited by his student and secret ally Kirei Kotomine. Kirei has done as Tokiomi instructed, summoning an Assassin class Servant (namely Hassan-I-Sabbah, the Old Man of the Mountain), but something seems off. Both Kirei and Assassin seem on edge, and Tokiomi soon learns why. There is ANOTHER set of Command Seals on Kirei’s opposite hand, and another Servant has answered the summons. This Servant being an eight feet tall metal monstrosity with sharp teeth, frightful red eyes, and a mysterious symbol on his chest, who introduces himself as Rider X, and he drops quite a bombshell on the unsuspecting Tokiomi. This iteration of the Holy Grail war will be featuring TWO of each of the standard Servant classes!
We get a quick glimpse of the summoning rituals performed by Waver Velvet, Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald, Kariya Matou, Tokiomi and Kiritsugu Emiya, most of them getting the surprise of their lives when they summon twice the intended number of Servants. Circle back to Kiritsugu, who is pretty shocked to see the legendary King Arthur is in fact the female Artoria Pendragon, and is completely stunned when someone else appears behind her. This fellow introduces himself as Assassin X, whose attempts to placate the Master and Servant before him unintentionally rile up the latter’s pride and cause the former to storm off to contemplate how all of this happened.
