After too long without a mayor, Lois nominates the local librarian. While Peter seeks out Mayor West's cowboy cousin, Wild West, to fill the position.
Tropes:
- Adam Westing: Fittingly, Wild West is Sam Elliott doing his own version of this, as a ludicrously macho cowboy.
- Brick Joke: Twice, Wild West says that he can levitate, but can’t do it now, to which different characters point out that’s something one would have to prove right away. It later turns out he really does have this ability.
- Cassandra Truth: At two different points, Wild West says he has the ability to levitate but can’t do it now, to which others say that’s the kind of statement one would have to prove right away, but he ends up doing this ability during the rescue.
- Everything Except Most Things: Peter, who wants Wild West to be mayor solely because he's a man tells Lois that men are responsible for everything great in the world and challenges her to come up with a single bad thing men have ever done ever...then spends the next minute rattling off an a list of horrible man made atrocities as exceptions.And don't say the economy or Iraq or income inequality or racism or Brett Kavanaugh or air pollution or Vietnam or slavery or Watergate or capitalism or #MeToo or homelessness or police brutality or homophobia or Monica Lewinsky or school shootings or Native American genocide or FOX News or Tim Allen or climate change.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Peter suggests getting another former Batman actor to be the new mayor such as Val Kilmer (who played the Caped Crusader in Batman Forever) but Lois shoots that down.
- Shout-Out: The ending with the song "Blue Shadows on the Trail" while a bunch of different animals show up is similar to the "Mean Ol' Moon" scene in Ted 2.
- Unexplained Recovery: Several animals that show up at the end such as the parrot, Arien Beaky, and Til Death, the brain damaged horse, are supposed to be dead.
- Unfortunate Names: The librarian running for mayor is named Elle Hitler. However, Peter seems to be the only one to judge her name.
