Recap / Family Guy S 17 E 8 Con Heiress

Go To

It's two tales of mistaken identity: Brian and Stewie pose as members of the wealthy elite in order to score a vast inheritance from a heiress, while Peter (who's teaching Chris how to properly mow the lawn) is mistaken for a young boy by Herbert the pedophile.

Tropes:

  • Batman Gambit: Meg, who turned out to be disguised as Margaret Onassis, was in huge debt to an amusement park, so she faked her death and gave her dowry to those trying to court her, namely Brian and Stewie, releasing her from the debt and forcing them to pay it off. Though her real reason might have been because she wanted an episode focused on her.
  • Double Entendre: A rooster walks by two cats and calls them pussies. They return the favor by calling him cock.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: When it looks like Brian and Stewie actually succeeded in killing Margaret, Quagmire's legitimately shocked and terrified to the point of hastily apologizing for all the blood between them (particularly him and Brian) in the hopes of not getting killed as well. Brian, of course, milks it for all its worth.
  • Foreshadowing: The old woman's first name is Margaret, and her overly long name is obviously made up with references. Turns out she is actually Meg in disguise.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Brian, Stewie, and Quagmire (to a lesser extent) are now in heavy debt by the episode's end.
  • Latex Perfection: Quagmire when he reveals himself to Brian and Stewie after Brian recognizes his voice.
  • Overly Long Name: Margaret's full name is so absurdly long that Tom Tucker refuses to read it when it’s on a Teleprompternote .
  • "Pop!" Goes the Human: Upon finding out that Peter is Chris' dad, Herbert literally explodes from the shock.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The gag with the wealthy woman’s overly long name is taken from a Monty Python sketch. It’s even stated within the name, as part of her name is "Von Stolen Monty Python".
    • Herbert dies and is reborn as a tree, just like Groot.
