Recap / Family Guy S 16 E 4 Follow The Money

Go To

When Chris loses a special birthday dollar, it goes on a trip across town and trades hands with numerous people.

  • All for Nothing: Chris and Carter get the rare dollar back, but because Seamus wrote his number on it, it's now worth nothing.
  • The Bet: Stewie bets Brian a dollar that he can't go a day without drinking. Brian barely tries to win it.
  • The Bus Came Back: The Screaming Black Dolphins, Ryan Reynolds, Fouad, The foreign guys talking too loud, Nicole (the chicken’s wife), Johny Windchimes, Connie D’Mico, Tracy Flannigan, The Non-masturbation T-rex, the guy with claw arms, the guy with short arms, and Jillian.
  • Deleted Role: Parodied at the end of the episode. A disclaimer reads that "the guy who shouts 'Phony'" had a planned role that was cut for time. His voice is then heard, and he insists he's still there and wants to be in the episode.
  • Hidden Depths: Carter wasn't giving Chris a dollar bill out of cheapness; he was giving him a rare and valuable misprint.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: Remember Brian's "The Reason You Suck" Speech to Connie about what her future will be like in "Barely Legal"? Well, in this episode, it's revealed she's working as a stripper to support herself.
  • Kick the Dog: Subversion. Seamus asked Meg out and wrote his number on the dollar. She seemingly has no interest and later spends the money, so when the bill eventually finds its way back to Seamus, he thinks the worst and is devastated. Seamus later learns, though, she didn't need the bill because she put the number in her phone.
  • Odd Friendship: Lois is friends with the Giant Chicken. It's also apparently a secret friendship, as Nicole is not happy to find the two together. The final scene reveals Peter does know about it and doesn't want Lois talking to him anymore.
  • Vignette Episode: Most of the episode is based around recurring characters and their antics with the rare dollar that Chris lost.
  • Wimp Fight: Lois' fight with Nicole (The Giant Chicken's wife) is...not impressive, being comparable to the "fight" that British Peter had with the Giant Pheasant in "Family Guy Viewer Mail #2".
