Go To

Sue's new invention stirs up problems with her support group. Kevin attends summer school due to flunking math. Bill and Phillip go to the city pool, where a chance for Bill to be with his crush, Bridget Fitzsimmons, eventually leads to an embarrassing erection incident. Frank receives two promotions at work, one of which his friend Rosie was next in line for, causing tensions between Rosie and Bob Pogo.

Tropes:

  • Animation Bump: Used during Kevin's fantasy of being a rock star while doodling in his journal during class. His animation matches the doodles in his book.
  • Brutal Honesty: When Vivian informs the other ladies that she used a little "persuasion" to get the forkoontula made, Nguyen surmises that she is the village whore. Vivian is visibly shocked by this conclusion.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Dr. McCallister gives Sue the idea to make the Forkoontula after saying that his hand is a "one instrument that's a work of them all."
  • Flipping the Bird: Kevin does this to Bill when he mocks Kevin for going to Summer School.
  • Freudian Slip: While getting yelled at and mocked by Mr. Durkin for his failed attempts at being a rock star, Kevin yells, "Shut up, Dad!" His classmates instantly pick up on the "dad" part, and correctly assume that he has issues at home, and mock him for it.
  • Get Out!: Mr. Durkin does this to Kevin for starting a class-wide mocking against him. This is quite the Unishment for Kevin, as he hated sitting through summer school and now gets to leave while being cheered on by his classmates.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Mr. Durkin needlessly humiliates Kevin in front of the summer school class by showing the class his musician aspirations. Kevin more than happy returns the favor by calling him out for what a loser he is.
  • Let Me at Him!: When Bob Pogo comes into the (mostly) black bar to talk with Rosie, the Puerto Rican that he framed in the past is in the bar at the time and recognizes him, and goes to attack him. The bartender has to hold him back with a billiards cue.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: If Phillip did not put too much sunscreen on him and contaminated the pool, which forced Mr. Fitzsimmons to clean it up and bring Bridget along, Bill forcing himself to hide in the pool to conceal his erection would not have happened.
  • No-Respect Guy: Mr. Durkin is this as the teens in his class show him no sort of respect whatsoever. Not to say he doesn't deserve it though.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Rosie suffers from one after helping a couple with their luggage and they tip him with a simple quarter (likely a Call-Back to Saturday Bloody Saturday) and as he looks at it dramatically for a few seconds he throws it to the distance and walks away from work.
  • Raging Stiffie: Bill has this at the pool while being enticed by the sight of Bridget. Unfortunately, he's told to get out of the pool along with the rest of the swimmers, and he tries to desperately to make sure no one else sees him in this state.
  • Record Needle Scratch: Happens when Bob uses the word "uppity" in his rant. See below.
  • That Came Out Wrong: While ranting at Rosie for the troubles he's had to go through. Bob lists off the people that he's had to deal with, and even describes them as "uppity". He immediately realizes that he went to far, as he is a white man who used that word in a black bar, and now all the patrons are glaring at him. He decodes that now is a good time to leave.
  • Throw the Book at Them: Mr. Durkin throws copies of class textbooks at his students to get them to stop laughing in class, which he does twice at Nuber. He also adds that he has plenty to use.
