Go To

  • "Angry Black Man" Stereotype: Albert shows signs of the stereotype when getting back at the racism he experiences at school, as he makes racist jokes towards Puerto Rican kids and spray paints a message calling Ms. Morello a "bitch" to get back at her for implying that he couldn't read. He later justifies Chris taking the blame for it as "solidarity" as they're both black, and even gestures with the Black Power fist.
  • Birds of a Feather: Chris and Albert, being the only two black students at Corleone.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: Greg witnessed Albert tagging the message, and tells the truth at the end of the episode, getting Albert expelled.
  • Department of Redundancy Department:
Julius: (asking an IRS rep about the likelihood of a refund on a tax return) "How probable is that, probably?"
  • Dirty Coward: When Chris warns Albert that he'll tell Ms. Morello the truth about who sprayed the message on the wall if he doesn't do it himself, Albert goes behind his back and tells her that Chris did it.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Albert gets back at Ms. Morello for all the racist things she says by spray-painting "MORELLO IS A BITCH" on the school. Unfortunately, he decides to pin it on Chris when he calls him out.
  • Fall Guy: Chris unwillingly takes the fall for Albert's vandalism when he refuses to go along with the latter's delinquency.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Greg gets increasingly jealous of Chris and Albert's budding friendship.
  • I Have This Friend: Julius grills the IRS representative about the large refund check he got by hypothetically talking about a friend.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: Albert has some nasty things to say about a Puerto Rican student and Caruso, though in the latter case, he deserves it considering how racist he is. As Albert's true colors are revealed, he becomes more of a Politically Incorrect Villain.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: When Rochelle gets the huge tax return, she immediately splurges on a new sofa and name-brand food. This kills Julius inside since he's already very anxious about the amount they got.
  • Status Quo Is God: Chris and Greg become friends again after Albert is expelled.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Albert teaches Chris to be more disrespectful and ruins his friendship with Greg.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Chris calls out Albert not only for his message, but for the fact that he's nonchalant about Chris taking the blame for it.
