• Did Not Get the Girl: Tasha leaves because of all the uninvited guests showing up.
• Downer Ending: Tasha leaves the party without Chris getting to do anything with her, Tonya catches Chris in the party, Rochelle wakes up and catches both of them, gives Chris, Tonya, and even Mr. Omar a whooping, and then the episode ends with Rochelle finding out about Chris having Tasha upstairs. Oh yeah, and now he's sick too.
• Morton's Fork: Tonya randomly decides to ask for Mr. Omar, catching Chris in his party in the process. She's clearly going to tell Rochelle, until the latter wakes up from all the noise and catches them both in the party anyway. So basically, Chris was always screwed as soon as he decided to throw this party.
• Ship Tease: Tonya and James are seen chatting and laughing at the party. Chris and Tasha are also seen to have a bit of chemistry earlier, making it all the more disappointing that his friends showed up to crash the party.
• Sick Episode: For the Rock family, aside from Chris. Tonya turns out to have been faking it to get out of a test.
• Spanner in the Works: Two-fold. The guys from the block all show up to watch the Richard Pryor standup, and then Tonya shows up, as she wasn't sick unlike the rest of the family, so she's able to catch Chris in the middle of a party. Subverted when it doesn't even matter that she's caught Chris because Rochelle wakes up and punishes both of them, Mr. Omar too.
• That Old-Time Prescription: Julius tries using some old remedies passed down from his family to cure Tonya instead of taking her to the hospital, as that costs money.
  Rochelle: Now, is this remedy of yours gonna work?
  Julius: Oh, it'll work! It's been passed down for generations. My mother got it from my grandmother, who got it from her great-grandmother, who got it from a Puerto Rican lady.
  • These remedies include:
    • Headache: Baking soda and a pomegranate.
    • Nausea: Catfish and grape jelly.
    • Blindness: A tin cup and a white cane. ("Hey, he can't cure everything!")
