• All for Nothing: Chris forges his mother's signature to sign his report card and attempts to sabotage any parent-teacher conferences. Ms. Morello calls the Rock household and informs Rochelle of Chris’ actual grade, and they set up a special meeting in secret, where Rochelle gets to sit in the class and get Chris to confess.
• An Aesop: Cheaters Never Prosper. Chris lies in the most complicated way possible to get his mother's signature on his report card, only for it all to blow up in his face.
• Bad Liar: Surprisingly averted, considering this is Chris. He actually keeps up his lie until Ms. Morello personally phones Rochelle and tells her the truth.
• Epic Fail: How does Chris get an F? He answers a math question – what is the square root of 144, a fairly easy question – talking about Martin Luther King.
• Oh, Crap!: Chris' (and Greg's) reaction to seeing his mother sitting in his classroom.
• Pyrrhic Victory: Chris finally gets a passing grade in Math, as in a barely passing grade: a D. Rochelle is proud, which confuses Chris, until she clarifies that she's just glad he's passing at all.
