A five-day story leading up to New Year's Day, where most of the male Smurfs are thinking about their parents who are no longer among the living. Chlorhydris the witch, who overhears all this going on among the Smurfs in her observations of them through her magic telescope, casts a spell on the Smurfs to make them think that their parents have actually returned from the dead.
This story provides examples of:
- Flames of Love: Papa Smurf and the Imaginarium version of his wife lie with each other on a rug in front of a lighted fireplace, getting ready to kiss when they were interrupted by Empath.
- Hallucinations: The "resurrected Smurfs" are actually this, due to Chlorhydris' spell.
- Invisible to Normals: The "resurrected Smurfs" are invisible to Smurfette, Baby, the Smurflings, and Polaris Psyche, due to Smurfette being a creation of Gargamel, Baby and the Smurflings still having living parents on Smurfling Island, and Polaris being a creation of the Psyche Master. In turn, though, the "resurrected Smurfs" don't even notice that those aforementioned Smurfs or even Polaris Psyche are there.
- Kiss Me, I'm Virtual: Papa Smurf has been spending his time in the Imaginarium with a fantasy version of his deceased wife.
- New Year Has Come: As mentioned, the story takes place during the five days leading to New Year's Day.
- When the Clock Strikes Twelve: The spell Chlorhydris casts on the Smurfs wears off at midnight on New Year's Eve, in which the "resurrected Smurfs" will suddenly disappear, giving the Smurfs such a shock that they will die. Baby Smurf alters the effects of the spell so that the "resurrected Smurfs" simply disappear without causing anything harmful.
- Whoopee Cushion: Jokey and his father set up one at the seat across the table where Empath was sitting in Tapper's Tavern, and it goes off when Polaris Psyche sits on it. Jokey laughs at this, but Jokey's father, who couldn't see Polaris, can only see that the prank has malfunctioned.
