Recap / Ed Edd N Eddy S 3 E 12 From Here To Ed

Go To

When Kevin accidentally messes up one of Eddy's scams, Eddy plans vengeance.

"From Here to Ed" contains tropes of:

  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: When Ed attacks Jimmy, he screams "Prepare to meet your maker!" Jimmy answers "Antonucci?", referring to the show's creator, Danny Antonucci.
  • Brick Joke: At the end of the episode, Jonny is wearing the Eds' Jonny disguise, gushing that he's inside his own head.
  • Call-Back: Eddy learning what's under Edd's hat and saying he'll sit on the information until the time is right from "Stop, Look and Ed" is brought back, as Eddy blackmails Edd to help him get revenge on Kevin for fear of him exposing Edd's secret.
  • Captain Oblivious: Kevin is completely oblivious to Eddy’s schemes to get back at him for ruining his scam.
  • Handshake Refusal: At the end of the episode, Eddy gives up his revenge attempts on Kevin and offers him a handshake so they can just call it a day and move on. But Kevin is confused since he had no idea about any of Eddy's revenge attempts and slams the door on Eddy's hand.
  • Hand Signals; Eddy tries to communicate with Edd with hand signals, but Edd has no idea what they mean. Ed answers with signals of his own, which make even less sense.
  • Here We Go Again!: When Kevin refuses Eddy's handshake and slams the door on his hand, he reignites Eddy's anger and Eddy goes back to demanding Kevin repay him for the money he made him lose.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While Kevin did not intentionally ruin the Ed's scam, Eddy still has the right to be angry with him especially since Kevin didn’t apologize.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: Edd and Eddy start to bicker like one after the maple syrup trap fails.
Edd: Don't be so modest, Eddy. It must've taken you at least ten seconds to come up with this!
Eddy: It's all your fault! If you'd helped, we'd be at home complaining about nothing to do!
Edd: Oh, now it's my fault?
    Eddy: Yeah!
    Edd: Really!
    Eddy: Yeah!
    Edd: Really!
    Eddy: Yeah, really!
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: To sneak past Kevin at one point, the Eds all dress together in a giant replica of Jonny's head. Amusingly, it succeeds in fooling Kevin, with him greeting "Jonny" as they walk by, and when he sees them walk into a fence and topple over he just comments "what a freak" to himself.
  • Pet the Dog: In one of the few moments of the show, Kevin acts polite and friendly towards Edd when the latter is by himself.
  • Sticky Situation: Eddy attempts to glue Kevin's bike using a jug of maple syrup and a large piece of wax paper. Unfortunately for Eddy, Jimmy and his tricycle was the one to fall into their trap. Only when Ed bodyslammed Jimmy did Kevin finally ride across, using Ed as a bridge.
  • Surrender Backfire: In the end, Eddy gives up and offers a handshake to Kevin as a sign of surrendering. However, Kevin is confused by this (as he had no clue what was going on) and simply shuts the door on Eddy’s hand.
  • The Unapologetic: Though Kevin didn't purposely sabotage Eddy's scam like Eddy accuses him of doing, he also doesn't apologize for it and acts like he has no idea what Eddy's talking about.
  • Unknown Rival: Kevin goes about his day without any clue that Eddy plots revenge on him several times.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Kevin unintentionally leads to Eddy’s “Polar Sleigh Ride” scam to go haywire when he goes on the course to grab the soccer ball, causing Ed to abruptly change directions to avoid hitting Kevin and crashing as a result. Guess who refuses to admit it's his own fault?
  • Wallpaper Camouflage: For their final attempt against Kevin, the Eds try to shoot Ed out of a cannon from behind a platform painted like a cloud. Taking the camouflage further, they paint themselves sky blue, along with wearing cotton balls to look like clouds.

Slide on the Soap

Ed enjoy sliding on the fake snow (actually soap) a bit too much for Eddy's liking.

How well does it match the trope?
