"Just the latest footwear!"

Tired of being teased and picked on by the Cul-de-Sac kids for his short stature, Eddy, after a fit of anger, locks himself away in his room. Double D decides to help him by inventing shoes to increase his height. Unfortunately, the remote soon finds its way into the hands of the Kanker Sisters...

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Absurd Altitude: As the Kankers play with the remote for the elevator shoes, they send the Eds so high they can see the entire Earth below.
  • Break the Haughty: Eddy gets it when he realizes that he's shorter than the other kids, but in a much softer manner than it would later become.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • As this episode aired before the show became it's more well known Sadist Show in season 2, rather than mean spirited humor, Eddy's preoccupancy, while albeit unfair, is much softer in tone than later on.
    • Eddy's status as The Napoleon is only ever brought up in this episode. In later episodes, the kids never even mention his height.
    • This is one of the few episodes where Sarah and Jimmy are not as tall as Eddy. Here, they're taller for the sake of the plot.
    • The Kankers outright pick on Eddy in this episode, even before getting the remote. It's rather odd considering in later episodes, their picking on them would always be in a more stalker-ish way.
    • In this episode, Eddy is friendly to the other kids, even Sarah, and wants to spend time with them, but they're all jerkasses to him and bully him because of his height. Later episodes would flip the script and have Eddy take a level in Jerkass and provoke the kids' anger and bully them, no matter how kind they were to him.
  • Force Feeding: Eddy shoves the basketball Rolf was playing with into Rolf's mouth after catching it.
  • Goo Goo Getup: At the end, Eddy ends up wearing a baby bib and sucking on a bottle when he falls in a stroller.
  • Insult Backfire: When Eddy gets revenge on Sarah and Jimmy, Sarah screams "You big ape!" at him. Eddy smugly says back "Big! And don't you forget it."
  • Jerkass Ball: The kids who actually don't mistreat the Eds, unlike subsequent seasons mock Eddy for being short.
  • Karma Houdini: Eddy gets revenge on everyone who mocked him for his short size throughout the episode except the Kankers. Once they show up again they steal the remote to Eddy's elevation boots and quickly humiliate him and the other Eds, getting away with it by the end of the episode.
  • Malaproper: When Ed tries using baby-talk, he meant to say 'Coochie-Coo' but instead says 'Coo-Chilly-Coo'. Eddy just raises an eyebrow looking unimpressed.
  • Made of Iron: Despite falling from space and crashing back down to earth, the three Eds simply shrug it off like it was nothing, with no visible injuries or damage whatsoever.
  • Mistaken for Clown: Discussed, when Eddy comments on the Walking-Braces. The Kankers also make a similar comparison when Eddy puts them on.
Edd: Behold, Walking-Braces! (offering Eddy the boots) You will become a giant among the low-set.
Eddy: (pushing them way) Do I look like a clown?
  • The Napoleon: Eddy is not happy about his short stature.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: The Kankers get in Eddy's personal space a lot while picking on him, with Lee scratching him under the chin and all three of them pinching and pulling on his face while saying how "cute" he is.
  • "Take That!" Kiss: When Eddy first encounters the Kankers, Lee makes a kissy face at him while scratching him under the chin in a mocking way. Once the Kankers have him surrounded after picking on him and mocking him for his height, May suddenly suggests they kiss him, with all of them sighing in agreement. Though Eddy manages to just barely escape before they do it.
  • Terms of Endangerment: The Kankers each call Eddy a nickname while picking on him, relating to his short size, including "pipsqueak", "stubby", and "shrimp".
  • Tricked-Out Shoes: To help Eddy feel better, Double D builds him some shoes modified with remote-controlled telescopic lifts to make him taller. He uses it to get back at everyone who mocked him over the episode.
  • Unwanted Harem: This is the first episode where the Kankers show to be attracted to more than just their designated Ed, with all three of them ganging up on Eddy when he's alone and May suggesting they kiss him, which all three happily sigh at the suggestion.
  • The Voiceless: Jonny is the only character to not talk in this episode.
  • Your Size May Vary: Eddy is drawn much shorter than usual for some scenes to emphasize his Height Angst, even being shorter than Sarah and Jimmy in one scene.
