Maya sends a message to Fisk's men.

Tropes

  • Badass Driver: Despite Biscuits' claim that he's not good at driving a truck with the steering wheel on the wrong side (since it's a mail carrier's truck), he's pretty good at off-road driving.
  • Bait-and-Switch:
    • We're led to believe Maya is stealing something from the train, but she actually planted a bomb on the weapons package to send Fisk's men a message.
    • Maya's new leg gets its own Forging Scene courtesy of Skully... except it's just a rush job until he can get a better one made.
Skully: Don't go running off with that.
Maya: I doubt I can do any running with this.
  • Continuity Nod: Biscuits notes that the Navajo stuff sold at Anthropology store next to Skully's store is actually imported from Madripoor.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: While Maya is already literally handicapped, the train job leads to her getting her metal leg stuck in the train coupling, and it ends up completely mangled and requires her to get a new one made. Until that can be done, her grandfather, Skully, has to do temporary repairs to her old one and Maya is left with a limp and unable to move quickly with it, so it's treated like this trope.
  • Internal Reveal: Biscuits lets slip to Bonnie that Maya is back.
  • Mama Bear: Chula is really protective of Biscuits, wanting to make sure Maya doesn't drag him into anything dangerous while she's in town.
  • Oh, Crap!: Biscuits' reaction when he accidentally reveals to Bonnie that Maya is in town.
  • Revenge: Maya plants a bomb on a shipping train to send Fisk's men a message in retaliation for shooting her.
  • Train Job: The main plot of the episode is Maya sneaking onto a moving train carrying weapons for Fisk and placing a bomb strong enough to level an entire warehouse on the case.
  • "Ugly American" Stereotype: The white couple in Skully's pawn shop, who aren't malicious but are certainly insensitive and treat different native cultures interchangeably. They reject Skully's Choctaw vase and ask if he has anything "more Navajo" to better match their kitschy home decorations.
  • What Measure Is a Mook?: The bomb Maya sends to Fisk's storage facility is strong enough to level the building, taking no small number of warehouse workers with it. For added irony, one of the people who survive it is Zane.
