Doug must face his fears when he, Skeeter, and Roger go to Bloodstone Manor, a new ride at Funkytown based on a real haunted house.

Tropes:

  • Amusement Park: Doug and Skeeter spend Halloween at the town’s amusement park, “Funky Town.”
  • Black Comedy: In telling the backstory of Bloodstone Manor, Skeeter says Baron Von Hecklehoffer labored for many years to build it and carried his bride over the threshold upon its completion, only to die suddenly. How?
Skeeter: He forgot to put in a floor.
  • Conscience Makes You Go Back: Doug and Skeeter are ready to hightail it out of the broken-down ride, but Roger’s cries for help make them go back to save him.
  • Domino Mask: The extent of Roger’s “costume.”
  • Dramatic Thunder: Happens whenever Bloodstone Manor is mentioned.
  • Evil Laugh: The Maniac is prone to this, though he turns out to not really be evil.
  • Expy: Race Canyon is a reference to Indiana Jones, even his theme music is similar.
  • Face Your Fears: Doug is absolutely terrified of going to Bloodstone Manor, but he faces his fears and ends up actually really enjoying his Halloween night.
  • Gravity Is a Harsh Mistress: Doug thinks an open grave that leads to a seemingly bottomless pit is just another optical illusion like they experienced at the beginning of the ride. He is sorely mistaken though, and he hovers in the air for a moment before falling and taking Skeeter with him.
  • Halloween Episode
  • Halloween Trickery: Roger and his friends spend Halloween night driving around throwing toilet paper at people’s houses, as well as trick-or-treating kids.
  • Haunted House: The new Bloodstone Manor ride at Funky Town is made out of a real haunted house.
  • Hypocrite: Despite repeatedly calling Doug a chicken, it's Roger who's opening scared of the ride (whereas Doug is having a blast).
  • In the Hood: The Maniac who bought Bloodstone Manor and turned it into an amusement park ride has a green face, red eyes (Red Eyes Take Warning), and is always wearing a hooded cloak.
  • Luck-Based Search Technique: Doug and Skeeter are looking for a way to start the ride back up after it shuts down for the night, and Skeeter actually gets it going again by pressing random buttons while trying to call for help.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • In his brief appearance, Mr. Bone is happily handing out treats to kids.
    • The Maniac helps Doug and Roger even the score against Roger.
  • Real After All: The Maniac turns out to be the ghost that haunts Bloodstone Manor. This is revealed when he gives Doug his missing Race Canyon hat back and disappears into a cloud of smoke.
  • Right on Queue: Doug and Skeeter have to wait in an incredibly long line to get into Bloodstone Manor, and by the time they get to the front, the park is ready to close for the night.
  • Toilet Paper Prank: Roger and his cronies try to convince Doug to join them in covering Mr. Bones’ house with toilet paper.
  • Too Old to Trick-or-Treat: Skeeter tells Doug they’re too old to trick or treat and Doug responds that they can never be too old for free candy.
  • Urban Legend: In the episode’s Cold Open, Skeeter tells Doug the legend of Bloodstone Manor.
  • Wham Line: The Maniac gives Doug a Race Canyon hat... the one he lost earlier in the episode.
    Doug: Who are you?
The Maniac: Just call me Baron Von Hecklehoffer!
