The Doom Patrol finally defeat Immortus, but find that their days are numbered and that they have to move on.
- Bittersweet Ending: Immortus and the butts are no longer evil, and Isabel even restores the DP's youth, but Rita still dies of old age and refuses to come back, the Doom Patrol is dissolved and everyone goes their separate ways. To make it less bitter, Jane now is free to do anything she wants with her life with Casey by her side, Vic becomes a teacher as well as a hero, Larry and Keeg travel outside of Earth to reunite with Rama, Laura decides to literally burn down the Bureau of Normalcy, Rita is reunited with Malcolm in the afterlife, and Cliff gets to see his grandson's future life thanks to a crystal given to him by Immortus, right before he himself passes away due to Parkinson's.
- Rory becomes a lot like his grandfather in both good and bad ways. He gets a girl pregnant at a young age and abandons them. He then loses his mother to cancer, but he’s able to reconcile with his daughter and meet his grandchild later on.
- The Cavalry Arrives Late: Not that they would have been much help, but by the time Laura returns with a wheelchair-bound Rita, the butts, Immortus and the whole theater have already disappeared on the time stream.
- Department of Redundancy Department: A Freeze-Frame Bonus shows that the poster for Isabel/Immortus' monologue reads "Ruffled Feathers: The Isabel Feathers Story — A story about Isabel Feathers starring Isabel Feathers".
- The Fellowship Has Ended: Rita refuses to be revived after she passes away and declares that the Doom Patrol is over and everyone should improve as people before trying to become heroes.
- The "Fun" in "Funeral": While the cremation of Rita's body starts rather somber, it becomes funny when the DP fails to bring any of Rita's favorite objects, to her ghost's annoyance, and then her corpse reverts back to blob form and inflates like a balloon. Then Laura deflates it with a stick, only for a nasty smell to come out of it.
- Generation Xerox: As Cliff gets to see in his final moments, Rory will grow up to be a lot like him, for both good and bad, but at least Cliff is happy that Rory will eventually mend his own relationships and be there for his family.
- Grand Finale: The final episode of the Doom Patrol live-action series, where the story concludes with the team disbanded to move on with their lives as well as Rita and Cliff dead.
- Killer Finale: The final episode of the series kills off Rita and Cliff.
- Life Will Kill You: In the end, both Rita and Cliff pass away due to their respective conditions.
- Pet the Dog: As thanks for the Doom Patrol helping her meet the butts and allowing her to be the star she always wanted, Isabel restores their youth by giving them some of her toenails. She also gives Cliff a crystal that allows him to see Rory's future right before he dies.
- Relationship Upgrade: During the epilogue, Jane kisses Casey in a moment of happiness, and their reactions indicate their feelings are mutual and are on the way to being an official couple.
- Together in Death: After Rita dies, she reunites with her lover Malcolm in the afterlife.
