Doctor Who and his grandchildren John and Gillian arrive on the planet Darbodia, only to find the natives are wandering around in a stupor, unable to dream or imagine...
- All Just a Dream: The main story is a dream of the Doctor's.
- Art Shift: When the Doctor wakes up, the art goes from the TV Comic style to the strip's then-current style.
- Bigger on the Inside: Doctor Who's bag.
- Dedication: Dedicated to Neville Main, artist on the TV Comic strips, who drew the very first TV Comic strip, John and Gillian's introductory story.
- Dream Stealer: Wargonne has imprisoned the Figments, who give the Darbodians their dreams, fearing the danger of ideas; as a result the Darbodians have no dreams and no ideas, wandering around aimlessly.
- Lighter and Softer: Serving as a deliberate contrast to the Doctor's typical adventures. The Doctor dreams of a world where villains are merely naughty, not evil; people never die, promises are never broken, and all endings are happy ones; the kind of world he'd like to live in. Then we remember everything that's going to happen in his future...
- Mythology Gag: Basically one big one to the early TV Comic stories, with the Eighth Doctor in his past selves' place.
- Narrating the Obvious: The captions reiterate what's happening in the story, in keeping with the source material.
- Retcon: Retcons the TV Comic strips as the Doctor's dreams of a better world.
- Retraux: With the intent of recreating the style of the TV Comic strips.
- The X of Y
- Zeerust: Invoked. Darbodia's aesthetics are very much in the style of 1960s sci-fi.
