Following on from last episode, Tai finds himself in the Digital World and is reunited with Agumon. But Izzy is nowhere to be seen as Tai is surprised to find his classmate Sora with him. The group find a stone with words in a strange writing that Tai's Digivice translates to follow a light the item shoots towards a mountain on the horizon.
Along the way through the woods, the trio encounter a small bird-like Digimon called Biyomon being chased by a Snimon with the group jumping off a cliff into a river to escape the insect Digimon. On the river bank, Tai is contacted by Izzy, revealing himself to be in the Newtork with a Digimon named Tentomon. Izzy signs off, warning everyone that the power outage in Tokyo is spreading and a fullscale blackout will occur in seventy-two hours.
Tai's group decide to follow the river to the mountain, using Sora's emergency supplies to build a raft. As they get started, Biyomon wakes up and tells Sora she's been waiting for her. The two bond and the group heads downstream. Along the way they get ambushed by a Coelamon that Greymon battles while the group is attacked by Snimon. Sora and Biyomon try to save each other and their bond results in Biyomon evolving into Birdramon while Sora gains a Digivice. The kids win their respective fights and Birdramon spots a temple near the mountain. She flies the group towards it, unaware that they're being followed.
Meanwhile, Izzy and Tentomon are still traveling through the Network when they are swallowed by a Whamon...

- Awe-Inspiring Dinosaur Shot: Parodied. As Tai and Sora explore the Digital World, they witness herds of Stegomon and a Brachiomon. Both dinosaur-like Digimon play out as this trope goes.
- Crazy-Prepared: Sora was out shopping before she was transported to the Digital World and happened to buy a bag full of emergency supplies which include her cap. The supplies include such things as binoculars, a rope, a compass and a saw, which comes in handy when they need to build a raft.
- Exact Time to Failure: Izzy warns that they have seventy two hours before Tokyo suffers a total blackout.
- Instant Expert: Tai is more surprised than anyone else by his sudden ability to read DigiCode, implied that his Digivice is somehow connected to this.
- Monster of the Week: Snimon and Coelamon share this role, incidentally introducing the dangerous side of the Digital World and providing the impetus for Biyomon's digivolution to Birdramon.
- Mythology Gag:
- The events that happen to Tai and Sora are an abridged version of the first two episodes of the original series, being chased off a cliff into a body of water by an insect Digimon (Snimon/Kuwagamon) and then attacked by an aquatic Digimon (Coelamon/Shellmon) that Greymon subdues.
- Biyomon digivolves into Birdramon for the first time in the 4th episode, with her speech of how Sora's love allowed her to digivolve similar to her speech as Garudamon in episode 26 of the original series.
- Super Swimming Skills: Despite being a fire-attribute, dinosaur-like Digimon, Greymon demonstrated his ability to swim while fighting a Coelamon.
- Transformation Sequence: Agumon gets a full sequence dedicated to his evolution to Greymon.
