Recap / Dead End Paranormal Park S 2 E 6 My Super Sweet 1600

Go To

Norma's been attempting to get some space from Badyah after being turned down in the previous episode. The latest try fails when Badyah volunteers to join the gang on a mission from Fingers to investigate "inter-planar violations" on the demonic plane of Bathmos.

Once they arrive they learn that spike in demon activity is from a 1600th birthday party being thrown for Zagan, Temeluchus' little sister.

The group quickly gets sidetracked: Badyah attempts to play matchmaker by setting up Zagan and Norma; Barney gets distracted with Asmodeus and his demon wrestling friends; Pugsley catches up with his ex-possessor Temeluchus; and Courtney finally finds another demon that looks like her.

The party is eventually broken up by the angels' ultimate enforcer, The Watcher. Most of the party guests are sent to the angel prison Naraka and the main characters are returned to Earth. Fingers announces that, since they failed a simple assignment to break up a party, he will be leaving them on their own going forward.

Tropes:

  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Pugsley and Temeluchus' interactions throughout the episode are reminiscent of a former couple that broke up but remain cordial with one another, with the latter finding a new host.
  • Downer Ending: Though Norma bonds with Zagan and gets her number, her emotional hangups cause her to put her friendship with Badyah on hold and quit from Phoenix Parks. Meanwhile, all the demons at the party barring Zagan and Courtney have been sent by The Watcher to Naraka, the angel prison. In addition, Fingers becomes disgusted with the demon-hunting squad for failing their job and leaves, deciding to let them handle demons on their own and withdraws his help.
  • Go-Karting with Bowser: The episode features Barney, Norma, Badyah, and Pugsley infiltrating Zagan's party who while annoyed with them crashing, generally lets them hang around, though not without a bit of antagonism at first, though she later has a heart-to-heart with Norma. Pugsley also has some time having a friendly conversation with Temeluchus reminiscing about their time together.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Let's just say that Badyah's attempt to do Spin the Bottle/Spin The Stake was a rather... poor decision, given that Norma likes to keep others out of her personal space. Norma does note that Badyah was trying to help but also notes that it was not helping. Not to mention...
  • Shipper on Deck: Badyah tries to set up Norma and Zagan together, believing that Norma's bluntness and interest in demonology and Zagan's supposed preference for an honest and trustworthy partner would make them compatible. This is ignoring how their last encounter in the season 1 finale went. Though they do end up bonding and Zagan does give her number to Norma toward the end.
  • Wham Line: "Barborah. I quit." Cue everyone gasping at Norma's words.
