Recap / Darkwing Duck S 1 E 28 Ghoul Of My Dreams

Go To

Morgana is using sleep sand to rob the citizens of St. Canard while they sleepwalk.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Accidental Kiss: Darkwing, dreaming about Morgana, leans in to kiss her...and wakes up to find that he planted one on Launchpad instead. He then spits several times while Launchpad tries to make a joke to defuse the awkwardness.
  • All Just a Dream: The ending is implied to be this.
  • Anachronic Order: Takes place before "Just Us Justice Ducks".
  • Beat Them at Their Own Game: Played with; Darkwing and Morgan try using Nodoff's control of the dreamworld against him, but it proves ineffective. Luckily, Darkwing hitting him with his own dream sand works like a charm.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Nodoff steals Darkwing's catchphrase.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Darkwing is obviously this when he first confronted by Morgana again. And judging by Morgana's attempt at controlling the dream somehow ending up with them at a chapel with her marrying Darkwing, this trope works both ways.
  • Fright Beside Them: Darkwing grabs Nodoff in the dream world, only for him to appear behind him. Darkwing nervously asks who he's got ahold of, and turns back to see he's got a snake by the throat. Naturally, because it's a dream, the snake winds up turning into Nodoff afterwards.
  • Hypocritical Humor: "I just wish you'd seen that lamppost before we slammed into it!" Because you've never crashed a vehicle before, right, Launchpad...?
  • Meaningful Name: Nodoff is an appropriate name for a guy who pulls crimes with sleep sand.
  • Mundane Utility: Morgana plans to put the citizens of St. Canard to sleep and rob them... so that she can finally pay off all her student loans.
  • Tempting Fate: When Launchpad hangs back from entering McCawber Manor, Darkwing scoffs that it's only a house and won't bite. The door knocker does when he uses it.
  • Unwitting Pawn: At the end of the second act, Morgana learns that Nodoff was using her to spread his sleep sand so that he could trap all of St. Canard in his dreamworld.
  • Water Wake-up: Launchpad drenches Darkwing with buckets of water after he succumbs to the sleep sand.
  • Weaker in the Real World: Nodoff may be an omnipotent Trickster in the dreamworld, but when Darkwing hits him with his own sleep sand, he gets transported into the real world where he quickly finds that all his Reality Warping powers are gone.
