Martha meets the stranger and learns his true identity. Claudia tries to prevent Egon's death in 1987. Hannah travels to 1954 to see Ulrich.


Tropes:

  • Accidental Murder: Egon realizes that there is something wrong with the cave and tries to call the police station to have them search it. Claudia tries to prevent it and they start to wrestle for the receiver until she accidentally pushes Egon, causing him to hit his head. She tries to call an ambulance at first but then hangs up. However, the fact that Egon dies shortly after indicates that he would have died even if he received immediate medical help.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Hannah betrays Ulrich and leaves him to rot in the asylum in 1954, due to sheer envy and disgust at his love for Katharina.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Franziska viciously tears her parents down as she learns they knew about Time Travel all this time.
  • Cowboy Cop: Clausen waves his gun around to Aleksander as he interrogates him.
  • Dies Wide Open: Egon's eyes remain open when he dies from his head injury.
  • Dying Curse: Egon's last moments have him hating his daughter and cursing her as he dies from his injuries.
  • Evil Is Petty: Hannah actually bothers to go back in time to visit Ulrich in prison... only to torment him for not loving her and decides to leave him Trapped in the Past.
  • Given Name Reveal: Clausen states to Aleksander that Aleksander's name is quite similar to that of his missing brother.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Hannah leaves Ulrich to his fate in 1954 after realizing Ulrich will indeed care more about Katharina and his children more than he ever cared about her.
  • Hope Spot: Ulrich meets Hannah again, as she seems to tell the authorities to let him go, but changes her decision.
  • Hourglass Plot: The episode begins with Egon in 1954 looking at the unknown old woman (his daughter)'s body in the autopsy, and ends with Claudia in 1987 looking at her father's body.
  • I Choose to Stay: Hannah decides to stay in 1954 after stating she lost everything in her time.
  • Internal Reveal: Martha finds out that she is Jonas's aunt.
  • Mama Bear: Katharina warns Stranger!Jonas to stay away from her daughter, now knowing about their true relation.
  • Murder by Inaction: Claudia lets Egon die to keep the secret at the Power Plant.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Claudia's reaction as she accidentally kills Egon.
  • The Reveal:
    • Clausen reveals to Aleksander that he is the brother of the actual Aleksander.
    • Claudia is the true White Devil, having accidentally killed her own father in 1987.
  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: During her trip to 2019 Claudia learns that her father will be found dead in his apartment a few days later in her time. She attempts to circumvent it by having him move in with her and Regina. However, their conversations allow him to piece together that the caves are capable of time travel, and during their ensuing argument about it she accidentally kills him and leaves him for dead.
  • Something Only They Would Say:
    • Martha realises the middle-aged man at the Kahnwald home is Jonas when he replies to her deja-vu as 'a glitch in the matrix'.
    • Egon, as he is dying, realizes that the old woman who kept on apologizing to him in 1954 was indeed his daughter.
  • Spotting the Thread: Egon realizes the power plant is the key to the time travel plot when he ponders why Ulrich went on returning to the caves aloud to Claudia, at the same time that she is getting desperately defensive with him about both the caves and her power plant.
  • Title Drop:
    • In 1954, Egon shows Helge a photo of a dead elder Claudia and asks him whether he knows her. Helge answers that she is the white devil.
    • In 1987, Egon's last words before he dies is saying to Claudia that she is the white devil.
  • Vagueness Is Coming: 1954!Helge warns 1954!Egon that the White Devil plans to kill them all and she hasn't even begun her work yet.
  • You Already Changed the Past: Claudia tries to prevent Egon's death by having him move in with her but she ends up being the one causing it when she tries to prevent him from calling the police station and accidentally causes him to fall and hit his head.
