Produced 2006, aired in U.S. on 7/13/07

Production order: 44 (3-7)

The Guys in White take an interest in FentonWorks and their gadgets, agreeing to pay a large sum of money to the Fentons for their acquisition. Suddenly, Danny goes from a modest loser at his school to a rich millionaire and one of the popular kids. However, while he's enjoying his newfound wealth, the Guys in White's intentions for the gadgets may not be as noble as they claim.

Tropes:

  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: At first, Danny is more concerned about what the Guys in White will do with the Ghost Zone over enjoying his wealth. However, he eventually allows himself to do so and gets a swelled head. It's only when he discovers the drill meant to burrow into the Ghost Zone in the mansion is fake that he realizes his friends were right about something fishy going on and snaps out of it.
  • Damn You, Muscle Memory!: Throughout the episode, the Fentons get used to calling on the butler for their needs. At the end, after they get their house back, they do so once again, only to realize he's not around anymore.
  • Enemy Mine: Danny teams up with Skulker, Youngblood, and Johnny 13 to launch a projectile that'll keep the missile from destroying the Ghost Zone. Of course, once the threat has passed, they quickly turn on him.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Jack buys a "Reality Drill" meant to tunnel into the Ghost Zone with their new riches. Once Danny wises up and tries to get to the Ghost Zone, he finds the obvious note that it's "for novelty purposes only" and that the tip of the drill is just a flashing lightbulb. Its only actual use is to make coffee. Danny snarks about his dad's "great purchase."
  • Giant Novelty Check: How the Guys in White pay for Fentonworks. In a really bizarre example, apparently the Fentons never actually cashed it, and their accidentally tearing it at the episode's end is what sends things back to status quo.
  • Hero Stole My Bike: Danny is forced to steal Johnny 13's motorcycle when he realizes he's on the far side of the Ghost Zone and won't make it back to his portal in time if he flies.
  • Rags to Riches: The Fentons become millionaires when they accept an offer from the Guys in White for their inventions and even move in a swanky mansion to boot, complete with a butler...
  • Riches to Rags:... But they ultimately give it up as they find the rich lifestyle isn't to their taste. For Danny, he realizes he'd rather be who he really is than someone superficial that people only flock to for his wealth.
  • Status Quo Is God: In the end, Jack and Maddie decide they like their old lives better. They go back to return the money and get their house back. The Guys in White gladly and quickly give it to them after their plan fails, as well as just being freaked out at Jack's inventions in general. Likewise, Danny and Jazz have no objections to this.
