It's Halloween! You kids have fun.
It's Halloween night at Gotham! But the Joker has escaped Arkham Reform School and is playing to make this holiday the scariest.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Incantation: Jessica accidentally releases the Gentleman Ghost by reading the inscription on Victoria Craddock’s inherited heirloom.
  • Admiring the Abomination: Barbara is starstruck by The Joker during their first meeting.
  • Again with Feeling: Babs when she realizes that Harleen saved Gotham and that there’s hope for their friendship yet.
Barbara: Harleen flipped the disarm switch!
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Interruption: Diana is about to admit to Barbara that Harleen is Harley Quinn, when Harley Quinn herself appears and interrupts her.
    Diana: Barbara, Harleen is -
    Harley: Happy Halloweeners!
    Diana: Harley Quinn!
  • Bat People: The Joker sets a trap for Wonder Woman and Batgirl in which Dr. Francine Langstrom turns into She-Bat and attacks them.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Diana wants to tell Babs her best friend is secretly a supervillain, but is sworn to secrecy, and so can only dance around the issue, making her look like a jerk.
  • Clothing Switch: The girls all go as each other for Halloween. However, no one dresses up as Supergirl, which Kara is quite unhappy about.
    • Barbara, Harleen, and Zee as Wonder Woman
    • Diana as Bumblebee
    • Karen as Green Lantern
    • Jessica as Batgirl
    • Kara as Zatanna
  • Convenient Photograph: Not wanting to believe Diana that Harleen is Harley Quinn, Barbara sadly looks through pictures of them on her phone. She then swipes to a picture she took of herself that just so happened to catch Harley Quinn threatening Diana in the background.
  • Cool Old Lady: Victoria Craddock ends up being a rad grandma that’s partying hard on Halloween with loud music and a Flavor Flav outfit.
  • Description Cut: Batgirl remarks that she hopes the other members of the team are having better luck than she and Wonder Woman are. Cut to Green Lantern and Zatanna getting their butts kicked by The Gentleman Ghost.
  • Donut Mess with a Cop: In the monsters’ rampage through Gotham, She-Bat lifts a cop up into the air and tosses him while the donut he was holding goes flying.
  • Dramatic Unmask: To try to convince Harley to not go through with the destruction of Gotham City, Batgirl reveals her true identity to her.
  • Dream Reality Check: Babs is so excited that all of her friends are going to be spending Halloween together in Gotham that she asks someone to pinch her because she must be dreaming. Kara is all too willing to take her up on that until Babs tells her not to because if it is a dream, she doesn’t want to wake up.
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: Batgirl smugly tells Harley she missed when she slams her mallet into the brick wall next to her. Turns out that’s exactly what Harley was planning as the side of the mallet opens to reveal a boxing glove that punches Batgirl in the face.
  • Gilligan Cut: Barbara is worried about telling Harleen that they’ll have to end the night early, saying she’ll be so disappointed. Cut to Harleen being perfectly happy that she has an out to go meet up with The Joker.
  • Glowing Eyelights of Undeath: Solomon Grundy has glowing red eyes when he first emerges from his grave.
  • Halloween Episode: Oh yes. And it takes place in Gotham.
  • Haunted House: Zee and Jessica are sent to investigate the creepy Craddock Manor where Victoria Craddock lives, whose fortune The Joker wants to steal.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Harley Quinn gets tested at how far she's willing to go.'
  • Karma Houdini: The Joker ends the episode escaping and not facing any punishment for the havoc he's wrought. About the only consequence he faces is Harley thwarting his plan to blow up Gotham by secretly disabling the explosive's trigger.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: Since there’s three possibilities of where The Joker could be planning to strike, Diana suggests that they split up into three pairs to investigate each one.
  • Lured into a Trap: All of the girls walk right into The Joker’s traps exactly as he had planned:
    • By investigating Victoria Craddock’s alleged inheritance, Jessica and Zee release The Gentleman Ghost.
    • By destroying what they think is a bomb, Karen and Kara release Solomon Grundy.
    • By removing the tape from the doctor’s mouth and allowing her to transform, Barbara and Diana release She-Bat.
  • Magic Pants: Francine Langstrom appears to be naked when she turns into She-Bat, but inexplicably has her clothes remain intact after Bumblebee successfully administers the antidote for her serum and turns her back into a normal human being.
  • Mythology Gag: Harleen's Wonder Woman costume has her wearing a giant curly wig, based on comic book Diana's usual look from between 1985 and 2011.
  • Not What I Signed Up For: Harley’s fully on board with The Joker’s plan of Halloween Trickery, but when he tells her he wants her to blow up Gotham she starts to have second thoughts.
  • Remembered Too Late: Zee recognizes the name "Craddock" from somewhere, but it's only when Vic Craddock's about to release Gentleman Jim she remembers from where.
  • Retcon: In "#GothamCon" Arkham Asylum is depicted in its traditional role, here its now a reform school.
  • Running Gag: Everyone else thinking Wonder Woman's catchphrase is "Great Hera!" note , and her wondering why. Because she's met Hera, who is...not so great.
  • Scary Jack-in-the-Box: In the episode’s Cold Open, The Joker escapes Arkham by distracting the guard with a creepy jack-in-the-box that explodes.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: The Gentleman Ghost was sealed into an heirloom that Victoria Craddock inherited and was released when the box was investigated by the Green Lantern.
  • Secret-Keeper: Diana has become this for Harleen, keeping her true identity as Harley Quinn a secret in order to not ruin the longtime friendship between Harleen and Babs.
  • Shout-Out: The ringtone on Barbara's phone is the 1989 Batman theme composed by Danny Elfman.
  • Swamps Are Evil: Karen and Kara investigate Slaughter Swamp, which has underground power lines that The Joker could cause a blackout by taking down.
  • Talk to the Fist: Wonder Woman wastes no time listening to the wisecracking Joker and punches him in the face before he can even finish his sentence.
  • Tongue-Out Insult: In typical Harley Quinn fashion, she blows a raspberry at Wonder Woman and Batgirl as The Joker mocks them.
  • Too Old to Trick-or-Treat: All of Barbara’s friends, except for Harleen, think she’s too old for trick-or-treating.
Kara: It’s actually kind of fun…for nine year olds and wackadoos.
  • Twinkle Smile: The Joker gives one of these when he meets Barbara and Diana for the first time.
  • Wham Episode: Batgirl and Harley finally discover each other's identities.
  • Wingding Eyes: Harley’s pupils turn into hearts when The Joker calls her his “number one gal.”
