Africa is the seventh region investigated in Criminal Case: World Edition.

Encompassing the countries of Madagascar, Kenya, South Africa, Botswana, Mazunda, Nigeria, and the Zambia-Zimbabwe border as well, Africa focuses on the Bureau investigating and aiming to stop a diamond smuggling operation being led by SOMBRA before they can steal millions of dollars worth in precious stones from a diamond company. At the same time, it also deals with the team trying to identify which member of the Bureau has been a SOMBRA agent this whole time, all while the traitor keeps sabotaging their efforts in the region.

    Cases Set in Africa
  1. Crash and Burn: A pilot has his throat slashed in Madagascar after his plane crashes in the country.
  2. The Circle of Death: A safari guide is shot with a poisoned arrow in the savannas of Kenya.
  3. Kicking the Bucket: A SOMBRA assassin is drowned in a water well in a South African village.
  4. Diamond in the Rough: A journalist is perforated by a giant drill on a diamond mine in Botswana.
  5. Going the Distance: A rally co-pilot is bitten by a poisonous snake near the race finish line in Mazunda.
  6. In Plain Sight: A convicted smuggler is shot in the head in her cell inside of the Bureau headquarters.

Tropes:

  • Arc Villain: A Big Bad Duumvirate between Lavinia De Brills and Angela Douglas. The former is the one leading the diamond smuggling operation across Africa for SOMBRA, and the latter is the identity of the traitor inside the Bureau that keeps sabotaging the team's efforts while also being the one who recruited Lavinia for SOMBRA in the first place.
  • The Big Race: The last stretch of Africa has the Bureau investigating a continent-wide rally race that is being used by SOMBRA as a front for their diamond smuggling operation.
  • Bittersweet Ending: In contrast with the previous two instances of the franchise where a teammate turns out to be the final killer, this district ends on a slightly more positive note that manages to save it from being a Downer Ending, as Angela neither commits suicide or escapes justice like Chief King and Frank, respectively, and her motives for betraying the team are made entirely clear during her arrest and post-trial interrogation, whereas King and Frank's motives end up being a mystery until you manage to discover the full extent of them in the final district. The Bureau's reactions at the end of the district are also shown to be more positive than those of the Grimsborough/Pacific Bay Police Departments during their respective betrayals, looking forward to keep fighting SOMBRA and quickly deciding to hire a new coroner despite everything, while the previous two teams remain depressed and/or distraught about the whole ordeal for quite some time.
  • The Mole: A portion of the district's storyline involves discovering that there's a SOMBRA agent inside of the Bureau sabotaging their efforts, and the eventual hunt that ensues to unmask who it is.
  • Recurring Character: The main recurring characters for Africa are Lavinia De Brills, Prince Abioye, Lily Karam, Ninah Zafy, and to a lesser extent Aristide Akintola.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: Both the diamond smuggling operation and the SOMBRA mole inside of the Bureau are treated like two different plotlines for most of the district, although The Climax reveals that they were Connected All Along, as the mole is the one who orchestrated the whole diamond smuggling by contacting Lavinia in the first place.
  • Venturous Smuggler: A big portion of Africa focuses on capturing and stopping a group of SOMBRA smugglers before they can leave the continent with millions of dollars worth of diamonds, which would give SOMBRA a massive economic boost and therefore make them a much bigger threat.
  • Wham Episode: The district as a whole counts as this, since from the very beginning you learn that there's a member of SOMBRA (you know, the multi-national crime organization you've been hunting for pretty much the entire game) inside of the Bureau, leading to lots of distrust and panic among your teammates until the traitor is captured.
