Knowing that Christian Bateman is not only out of prison but a member of Ad Astra, the player and Jones make their way to Villa Bateman to find out about Ad Astra's plans. The Bateman they find first, however, is Cora Bateman, Christian's mother who has been drowned in a barrel of her own wine.
Tropes:
- Brain Bleach: One piece of evidence is of a rather sexual picture of Christian the victim was sending Savannah to set them up. Jones is naturally disgusted, thinking his eyes will never recover.
- Cliffhanger: The case ends with an explosion rocking the precinct.
- Impoverished Patrician: What the murder motivation boils down to. The killer, Jacinta Linares, killed her friend Cora because she demanded that Jacinta pay back the money she borrowed in order to keep up appearances of still being wealthy.
- Kill the Creditor: The idea behind the murder.
- Serious Business: Martine, a Frenchwoman, gets in a fight with Cedric, a Frenchman, over what kind of wine is better.
- Tap on the Head: Jacinta knocked Cora out with an ashtray before drowning her.
