Chief Marquez: Welcome to White Peaks, <Player's Name>! The district's named after its beautiful mountains.

In your first day after arriving to White Peaks, Amy decides to take the player to the Frosty Cup, a winter sports competition famous in Pacific Bay. There, they see ski jumper Anjulie Cruz getting sliced in half by a wire put at the end of the ramp.

Tropes:

  • Alliterative Name: The skier, Claire Cambridge.
  • Cool Big Bro: Duncan, Amy's wheelchair-bound brother, appears in this case to welcome back Amy to White Peaks along Bobby.
  • Conflicting Loyalty: Anjulie had a sponsorship with King Dairy before she decided to switch to Rocket Cow after they offered her more money, which made Calvin Ono, King Dairy's president, resent her.
  • Continuity Nod: The sports announcer of the Frosty Cup is the same one seen in Case 4.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Amy can't stop getting flustered and distracted while you interrogate her ex-boyfriend Bobby.
Bobby: Yup. Maybe you didn't know, Amy, but I come here to the mountains a lot... to get in touch with nature... living like a real man.
Amy: That sounds a bit wild... but so exciting... Sorry, <Player's Name>
  • Evil Old Folks: Sven Blattner, the killer, is an old man who murdered Anjulie just because he didn't want women competing in the Frosty Cup.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Sharon White, one of your suspects, was envious of Anjulie becoming Woman of the Year for her contributions to gender equality in the Frosty Cup when Sharon herself was a better skier, but Anjulie got in the magazine cover because she was prettier than her.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: The victim dies after getting sliced in half by a wire whilst finishing sky jumping.
  • Hate Sink: While Anjulie was no saint, her killer is especially unsympathetic given that he killed her for daring to be a woman in a sports competition.
  • Highschool Sweethearts: You meet Bobby Prince, Amy's high school ex-boyfriend who had to part ways with her after she joined the police force.
  • Obviously Evil: One of your suspects resembles Mr. Burns, doing the stereotypical villainous pose, and the first thing he does after the murder is trying to destroy what the victim has been fighting for. Well gee, I wonder who the killer is?
  • Pulled from Your Day Off: The murder happens in the middle of the Frosty Cup while you and Amy are watching it.
  • Pun: Roxie gets a couple after examining the body.
Roxie: Well <Player's Name>, coming back for more Roxie insight? Guess you're down to the wire on this case, huh!
It's a wire joke, get it? Oh don't look at me like I've got my wires crossed. Okay sorry, I'll stop!
  • Rich Bitch: According to some suspects, Anjulie became this after she got famous for ski jumping, such as dumping Bobby because he was poor, increasing the price of her ski jumping lessons to absurd levels, or denying Claire Cambridge said lessons for being "too old" when she's just 32.
  • Sabotage to Discredit: Sven killed Anjulie during the very first female ski jump in the Frosty Cup as an excuse to ban women from participating in the event, and having a famous athlete dying during the competition would be a good one.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Sven Blattner resembles Mr. Burns, and is named after Sepp Blatter, 8th president of FIFA.
    • King Dairy is a parody of Dairy Queen.
    • In the Hot Springs scene, there is a sword in a stone.
  • Skewed Priorities: When Bobby tells the player that Anjulie was his girlfriend before she dumped him, Amy seems more interested in the fact that he's now single.
  • Stay in the Kitchen: Sven thinks women shouldn't be allowed to compete in sports, hence why Anjulie almost sued him if he didn't allow her to participate in the Frosty Cup.
  • Straw Misogynist: Sven, to the point he's willing to murder a woman if that means he can ban female athletes from participating in the Frosty Cup.
Sven: Sports have been a man's game for centuries, since the beginning of time practically, a test of one's true heroism. And ski jumping is no exception!
But now, we have to make all these accommodations to that some women can participate... we need to make all the ramps safer and cushier for them, which they don't realize costs millions of dollars!
  • The Suffragette: Both Anjulie and Sharon fought for women to be allowed to participate in the Frosty Cup, and Anjulie's jump was supposed to inaugurate said achievement. Sadly, she got killed because of it.
  • Urban Legend: During the Additional Investigation, you learn about the Night Walker, a supposed boogeyman who lives in the forest and snatches people away. Sharon, one of your suspects, affirms she was being stalked by it, and you find a mask of its face during the investigation.
