Tropes

  • Accidental Murder: In a way. Irina believed Gail was already dead due to drug and alcohol overdose, so she went to the construction site to bury her body in concrete as a way to avoid responsibility. Unfortunately, Gail was only unconscious, so she ended up accidentally killing her.
  • And I Must Scream: The victim was still alive whilst being buried in concrete, which got into her airway and filled her throat while it was being poured into the pit where she was later found.
  • Buffy Speak: Ramirez refers to Alex as "that weird tech guy".
  • Constructive Body Disposal: Irina tried to dispose of Gail's "corpse" with concrete on a construction site, but there wasn't enough for it so her arms and head ended up being visible.
  • Continuity Nod: The square Emma fell to her death reappears as a crime scene. The construction site where the victim is found also resembles the warehouse where Tom hid himself.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Gail fell unconscious due to alcohol poisoning and drug overdose then was buried alive under concrete which entered her nose and mouth, slowly suffocating her to death.
  • Drugs Are Bad: Both the victim and her killer were partying with hard drugs, but Gail lost consciousness which led Irina to believe she was dead, so she disposed of her "body" on the construction site. It was too late when she realized Gail was alive due to being under the effects of drugs too.
  • Going for the Big Scoop: Near the end of the case, Rachel tells you she's decided to do this on her own regarding Alden.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Gail didn't have any friends except for Derek and Irina, so she partied hard with them even when she wasn't accustomed to the alcohol and drugs they used. Unfortunately, this led to her death.
  • Jerkass: Philip Rockwell, the executive at Greene Financials, is extremely unpleasant to you every time you talk to him, even gloating about how he could get away with murder if he wanted to.
  • Lack of Empathy: Once again, Rachel demonstrates how little she cares about people around her dying.
    Rachel: Dead?! That's awful!
  • Mean Boss: According to everyone who knew Gail, she and Rachel weren't in very good terms, since the latter bossed her around and sent her to dangerous jobs such as investigating Alden Greene's companies.
Jones: I really think we should have another chat with Rachel Priest. Irina and Derek have both mentioned that Gail was terrified of her boss.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: Philip Rockwell tells you that while he didn't kill the victim, there's nothing you could do even if he did since "he knows how the system works."
  • Shout-Out: In the Walton Square scene, there is a giant gorilla climbing a building.
