"You want us to boo louder?"

A Plot: The Leroys get a hot tub, and when Lacey decides to come try it out, she is weirded out by Oscar and Emma's behavior. Lacey gets into even more hot water when others, including Karen, assume she likes bathing with the elderly couple.

B Plot: Davis wows the crowds in his role as "Safety Pete", a safety mascot for the town. He gets one-upped when Karen dons the costume instead and displays a flashier move set. Davis tries to up his game to compete.

C Plot: Hank's house is damaged when he accidentally runs into it with his truck. Brent is suspicious when Wanda insists Hank is staying at her house. Brent makes it his goal to prove she and Hank are lying.

Tropes referenced:

  • Bow Chicka Wow Wow: Wanda hums this when making fun of Lacey's hot tub "adventures" with Emma and Oscar.
  • Cannot Tell a Joke:
Emma: We're having a hot tub party tonight.
Oscar: Why don't you come by? We'll tub.
Lacey: Are you saying there's a party in your tub and I'm invited? [She laughs at herself.]
Emma: [not amused] What's that supposed to mean?
  • Cluster Bleep-Bomb: Davis badly injures himself attempting a dangerous stunt as Safety Pete. He lets loose a string of bleeped curses to a stunned crowd of parents and children.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Davis decides to give a tragic backstory for Safety Pete, where someone killed his parents in an unsafe way and that's why he's now dedicated to safety.
  • Description Cut:
Brent: Yeah, I heard some lunatic drove through your kitchen.
[Cut to Hank trying to back out in his truck and putting it into drive instead, driving into his own kitchen.]
Hank: I just didn't see it!
  • Do Not Do This Cool Thing: In-universe, the Safety Pete demonstrations devolve into this, claiming to promote safety while performing risky acrobatic moves the kids love.
  • Embarrassing Nickname:
Oscar: Hey, it's the Big Tubber!
Brent: I'm trying to lose weight, okay!
Oscar: I was talking to Lacey.
Lacey: Oh great! I really hope that's not a nickname that sticks.
  • Goofy Suit: The Safety Pete costume is a cutesy-looking rodent. Davis is thrilled to wear the costume, but Karen shows much less interest.
  • I Resemble That Remark!:
Emma: We heard you chased Karen and the others away so you could hot tub alone with us. Now that's a little weird.
    Oscar: A lot weird.
Lacey: That is not true! Karen left all on her own after I pretended to have diarrhea. I am not weird.
  • Maintain the Lie: Hank and Wanda try to with Brent.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Brent teases his father by pretending not to notice the new hot tub in their yard.
  • Parental Sexuality Squick: Brent refuses to get into the hot tub.
Brent: I'm more of a "shower" guy... "shower alone" type of guy... more of a "not bathe with my parents" type of guy.
  • Pull the Thread: Brent has a lot of fun doing this to Hank and Wanda, even taking Hank right over to Wanda's house and staying for a ridiculous amount of time.
  • Shout-Out:
    • When Brent thinks he's caught Hank and Wanda, he exclaims "a-ha!", only to find that Wanda is one step ahead of him. When pressed by Wanda, Brent claims he was just mentioning his favorite Norwegian band from the '80s.
    • The episode title is a reference to the song Good Lovin' by The Rascals.
  • Stealth Insult:
Davis: I decided last night when working on Safety Pete's character, he doesn't speak.
Karen: That's something you should explore more with your Davis character.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Some of Wanda and Hank's explanations come off this way.
Hank: The important thing to remember is that I'm sleeping at her place, and nowhere else.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: This is why Brent is so leery of Hank supposedly staying at Wanda's house, especially considering Wanda is even less fond of Hank than most. A Rapid-Fire Comedy gag shows several people reacting negatively to even the possibility of Hank staying with them. Brent then finds it jarring that Wanda is the one who says yes. Of course, it turns out Brent is right. The whole thing is a ruse so Hank can stay overnight at the gas station and do cleaning that would otherwise be Wanda's job.
  • Verbal Backspace:
Lacey: [discreetly] Wanda, I need your advice on a private matter.
Wanda: Oh, you mean that weird hot tub thing with you and Oscar and Emma?
Lacey: Okay, more of a public matter.
