"Step away from the hinge!"

A Plot: The gas station door breaks and Lacey convinces Brent to use her "door guy" rather than attempt to fix it. This causes Brent to lose face as a man, prompting him to try to prove himself.

B Plot: In anticipation of a rare meteor shower, Wanda gets a large telescope. However, she has a hard time trying to find a place to keep it away from prying eyes and curious hands.

C Plot: Oscar and Emma test-drive an RV, but are intimidated by its size when attempting to drive it. So, rather than take it somewhere useful, they hang around town and it becomes an annoyance.

Tropes Referenced:

  • Accidental Misnaming: When Brent first decides to utilize Terry's services, he turns to Lacey and asks "so do you got this Jerry guy's number?"
  • Ambiguous Syntax:
Lacey: It's coffee flavor, for your coffee.
Brent: But coffee already tastes like coffee, like a lot.
Lacey: No, it's not the flavor of coffee, it's to flavor your coffee. You put it in your coffee for a burst of authentic flavor.
  • By "No", I Mean "Yes": Immediately after the above trope.
Brent: [examines package of coffee flavor] "Irish Cream". What's in Irish cream, anyway?
    Oscar: It's booze!
    Brent: There's booze in here?
    Lacey: No!
    Brent: So it's fake.
    Lacey: Yes! ...But authentic!
  • Captain Obvious: While Terry is standing next to a van that has "Terry's Doors" painted on it in large letters:
Brent: Are you the door guy?
Terry: That's right. What seems to be the problem?
    Brent: It's the door.
    Terry: I'm the guy.
  • Damned by Faint Praise:
Lacey: Oh, come on! Brent asking for help does not take away from his masculinity.
    Brent: Yeah.
Lacey: It shows he's mature enough to subordinate himself to another, more capable man.
Brent: Where does that come from?! Who's subordinate?!
  • Department of Redundancy Department:
Lacey: You should call my door guy.
Brent: You have a door guy?
Lacey: Terry. Oh, he's great. He comes, he fixes the door. He has a motto: "I fix doors".
Brent: I'm confused. What's he do?
  • Description Cut: Following up from Damned by Faint Praise above:
Brent: Where does that come from?! Who's subordinate?!
    Terry: Brent!
Brent: [standing at attention] Yes, sir?
  • Disaster Dominoes: Hank borrows Wanda's TV. As he's walking down the porch steps with it, he bumps into her birdbath and breaks it. This causes the TV to fly out of his arms... right through the window of Wanda's car. And this cycle only repeats itself. Hank decides to get Wanda a new birdbath. He leaves it outside the gas station, where Wanda promptly bumps into it while trying to carry her large telescope. The birdbath breaks and the telescope flies through Brent's car window. Birdbaths can cause widespread destruction if you're not careful!
  • Exact Words:
Brent: I could never kick out my own parents.
    [Whip Pan]
Brent: [talking to Davis on the phone] I want you to kick out my parents.
  • Heh Heh, You Said "X": Lacey is scolding Brent for messing with his door:
Lacey: Brent, did you fiddle with your hinge?
Brent: [offended] I beg your pardon, ma'am!
  • Insult Backfire: Davis orders Brent to get the gas station door fixed because it's a safety issue. Brent says, "Oh, here we go. Big Daddy Government making it hard on the little guy." Instead of getting offended, Davis acts like the phrase is a cool nickname.
Davis: I like that. I'm "Big Daddy Government".
  • Ironic Echo Cut:
Emma: Are you saying you want us to leave?
Brent: No, no. I could never kick out my own parents.
[Cut to Brent on the phone with Davis]
Brent: I want you to kick out my parents.
  • Now You Tell Me: Wanda warns Karen to "watch the door" after the broken gas station door smacks her on the rear end.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Hank is confused when Wanda actually says something to him that isn't mean. She quickly bounces back and threatens to kill him if he ever tells anyone about it.
  • Rapid-Fire "No!": This is Lacey's reaction when Oscar and Emma try to park the RV in front of the Ruby.
  • Running Gag: Numerous people keep mispronouncing Copernicus, as well being completely wrong about who he was.
  • Shout-Out: When Hank says that letting Terry fix Brent's door has taken away his masculinity, Brent points out that Hank has taped every episode of The Powerpuff Girls.
Hank: It's a good show. And I'm missing three episodes.
  • Wraparound Background: Subverted when Oscar and Emma are shown in the cab of their RV, and trees passing by in the background indicate they are moving. Cut to an outside shot that shows the RV is parked outside The Ruby and a convoy of flatbeds full of trees is driving by in the opposite direction.
