"You're a work friend. Don't make this weird."

A Plot: Brent, Hank and Emma have a viral video contest.
B Plot: Karen and Davis get into trouble when the locals find out they've been secretly GPS-tagged.
C Plot: Lacey discovers that the free WiFi at the Ruby is providing Internet access for the whole town. She asks Wanda to secure it for her, which brings out Wanda's scheming side.

Tropes:

  • The Cameo: Harley Morenstein makes an appearance.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Twice in rapid succession for Davis after the cops find a runaway dog:
    Karen: That's a good boy.
    Davis: Thanks!
Karen: I was talking to the dog.
    [seconds later]
Karen: Wanna go for a ride, buddy?
Davis: Sure! Where are we going?
    Karen: Nope, still the dog.
  • Groin Attack: Brent enjoys the website "Hard in the Nards", which is a video site devoted to "dudes gettin' sacked in the nads", as he puts it.
  • The Internet Is for Cats: Emma likes searching MewTube, a site devoted solely to cat videos.
Emma: The only place to find all the cute cat videos.
Brent: Yeah, 'cause cat videos are a real rarity on the Internet.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Brent, Hank and Emma's efforts throughout the whole episode are all for naught, as none of their videos go viral. Instead, the new viral sensation is a video of Lacey destroying the WiFi signal booster, under the title "Hottie Meat Cleaver Mama Loses It On Police Station Roof".
  • Shout-Out:
    • Karen: Didn't you give Rheena a ticket?
Davis: I tried, but she hadn't parked yet, and said I couldn't give her a ticket for thinking about doing a crime. Then we spent half an hour arguing the plausibility of Minority Report.
    • Wanda mentions watching the entire uncut The Lord of the Rings trilogy, then later has an argument with Lacey over the difference between Frodo and Fredo.
  • Take That!:
Wanda: What's a gal gotta do to monopolize the Internet around here? Merge with Time Warner?
  • Tempting Fate: After mentioning the site "Hard in the Nards", Brent stresses to his mother twice not to Google the words "hard" or "nards".
  • Tracking Device: The cops put one on everyone in town, disguised as friendship bracelets.
  • Trick-and-Follow Ploy: Lacey finds the signal booster by claiming she's going to go smash it, then following all the townspeople's GPS signals when they head toward it to prevent her. She's still a bit lucky that she gets there first, as she heads right for the police station where both the GPS tracker and the signal booster reside.
