- Bait-and-Switch: Throughout the episode, Numbuhs 2 and 42 are constantly worried about "78", implying that they are talking about the operative. Near the end, Numbuh 5 learns that they are actually talking about the Yipper card No. 78.
- Company Cross References: One of the balloons the remaining sector escapes in has a Dexter balloon.
- Cool and Unusual Punishment: The zombie nerds torture the people they capture by forcing them to watch "Dr. Time Space and the Continuums".
- "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: After the zombie nerd leader gets his Yipper card No. 78 back and he and the other zombies return to normal, he remarks it wasn't nice of Numbuh 42 to steal it and if he really wanted it, they probably could have just worked out a trade.
- Everyone Has Standards: Numbuh 2 is understandably upset when he learns that Numbuh 42 stole the Yipper card No. 78 to get it to him. And in the stinger listed below in Here We Go Again!, Numbuh 2 lets out a disgusted "You didn't" implying anger that 42 stole a card from some other group.
- Foreshadowing: The fact that Numbuhs 2 and 42 only care about getting Numbuh 78 without mentioning the other operative who was captured hints that they're talking about another 78.
- Here We Go Again!: When Numbuh 42 is asked where he got Yipper card No. 99, we hear a wolf's howl in the distance...Numbuh 2: You didn't...
- Ripped from the Headlines: Tom Warburton has stated that this episode is inspired by a news article about grown men ripping each other off in a Pokémon Trading Card scam.
- Serious Business: Both Numbuhs 2 and 42 are more concerned with recovering the No. 78 card than the safety of their teammates. The nerds are even more extreme, turning into super-strong zombies upon having their property stolen. The ending implies a similar group who turn into werewolves.
- Ship Tease: Although Numbuh 5 reacts maturely when she thinks Numbuh 2 might have a crush on Numbuh 78, (way better than Numbuh 4 when he thought Numbuh 3 was in love with another boy in Operation: H.O.S.P.I.T.A.L) she still shows a bit of frustration.Numbuh 5: Yeah, yeah, so grab your girlfriend and let's go rescue the others.
Numbuh 2: Girlfriend? - Shout-Out: The zombie nerds look very similar to the ones found in the third Captain Underpants book.
- Wham Line: When Numbuhs 2 and 42 are surrounded by the zombie nerds, Numbuh 42 reveals the reason why all of this is happening.Numbuh 42: Man, that card has been nothing but trouble! I should've never stolen it in the first place!
- What Were You Thinking?: Numbuh 2 has this reaction upon learning that Numbuh 42 stole Yipper card No. 78 from the nerds.Numbuh 2: You stole No. 78?!
