- Adaptation Expansion: This is the second chapter that takes place during the Time Skip between Nunnally Held Hostage and Knight, and is the final Transformers: Prime episode adapted for R1.
- Berserk Button: Under the influence of the incomplete Synthetic Energon, Ratchet triggers Kallen and Lelouch's when he brings up Naoto's death and insults Lelouch after he reflexively activates his Geass.
- Continuity Nod: Ironhide points out all the times Megatron kept surviving death, including when he got beat up by Metroplex.

- My God, What Have I Done?: Ratchet experiences this the hard way after his Synth-En-enhanced strength was overcome by Megatron, due to lack of judgement.
- Night of the Living Mooks: In this chapter's B-plot, this is what Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, and Airachnid face - Terrorcons formed from broken Knightmares and later their own Vehicon escorts.
- Not So Stoic: Even Airachnid was completely scared out of her processor at the sight of the Terrorcons in the Mount Haku mine.
- Psycho Serum: What Ratchet’s new Synthetic Energon formula starts as, causing him to disregard danger, morals and even common sense, charging at Megatron without hesitation.
- Wham Episode: Megatron regains access to Dark Energon.
