Ulrich has a karate competition to attend, and the Lyoko warriors attempt to find out more on Tyron in the Cortex.

- A Day in the Limelight: Jim is pretty prominent in this episode, helping Ulrich out with training, and telling him to act unpredictable.
- Confusion Fu: Downplayed in the real world as Ulrich fights normally, just unpredictably, but played straight with Yumi in the Cortex, who's told by Ulirhc to do the same thing to beat the ninja's.
- Deadpan Snarker: Yumi towards Odd, saying the brains have arrived.
- Foreshadowing: Jim tells Ulrich to be unpredictable when fighting. Ulrich uses this advice to win at the Karate tournament, as well as giving this advice to Yumi to defeat the ninja's in the Cortex.
- Jerkass: Jim towards Ulrich, and wants to make them compete in a karate contest, and when Ulriuch attempts to pull out, Jim chastises him and tells him to be in the Gym in an hour.
- New Powers as the Plot Demands: Jérémie gives Yumi her staff, despite never appearing before now. Yumi uses it to defeat the Ninja's.
- Running Gag: Jim was once chased by tigers in Burma, and he only survived by being unpredictable. He prefaces this story by saying "I'd rather not talk about it" instead of saying it at the end.
- The Reveal: It turns out that the black blobs were human avatars, which explains why all the Lyoko Warriors' moves are perfectly countered, as Tyron has hired Ninjas to protect the Cortex.
