System: The duty of a villain is to wait for the protagonist to seek revenge.
Shen Yuan: Thanks a lot! I'm not doing it! Go find someone else!

Dying as he curses the novel Proud Immortal Demon Way in his last breath, Shen Yuan is taken to the world of the novel and transmigrated into the body of the novel's main villain, Shen Qingqiu.

  • Adaptation Deviation: In the novel, Shen Yuan never freaked out after learning that Luo Binghe is fourteen years old by the time of his transmigration; he only cursed the System out of frustration for knowing what it could mean for him.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: When a dismembered Shen Qingqiu is brought before Luo Binghe, the former weakly begs for mercy, but his plea falls on deaf ears.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Shen Yuan had stated early on that Luo Binghe Used to Be a Sweet Kid until Shen Qingqiu's abuse "blackened" him. In the current iteration of the novel's plot where Shen Yuan transmigrated into, Luo Binghe is still in his innocent and pure-hearted stage. However, polite and meek he might be, he shows that he still has his limits when Ming Fan snatches his jade pendant and throws it away.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Luo Binghe's childhood included him being found at the river. While he was initially happy with his adoptive mother, she died and he was left an orphan. When he was enlisted as a disciple in the Cang Qiong Mountain Sect, he was horrifically abused by his teacher, Shen Qingqiu, and was eventually pushed down the Endless Abyss, which is essentially similar to Hell (or Diyu in Chinese mythology).
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: In the novel, Shen Yuan died of food poisoning. In the donghua, Shen Yuan died from choking on his food instead, since death from food poisoning actually takes some time.
  • Evil Laugh: Shen Yuan lets out one after finishing Proud Immortal Demon Way and finding it to be a total literary mess.
  • Failed a Spot Check: When Shen Qingqiu tries to give Luo Binghe some medicine, he gets an OOC warning. Attempting to make a quick save, Shen Qingqiu drinks the medicine himself, only to belatedly realize that it's meant for external application, causing him to gag and feel ill.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Pay close attention, and you'll notice that Shen Qingqiu was registered by the System as username UV002.
  • Motor Mouth: Shen Yuan summarizes the entire plot of Proud Immortal Demon Way via rapid-fire speech.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Ning Yingying realizes her mistake in bringing up Luo Binghe's jade pendant when it causes the other disciples to start picking on Luo Binghe again. She tries to get them to stop by telling Ming Fan that she doesn't need to see the pendant, but to no avail.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Shen Qingqiu lampshades that any time Ning Yingying speaks, she's bound to make things worse than better. For example, a lot oftrouble could have been avoided if she never mentioned Luo Binghe's jade pendannt.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Shen Yuan sarcastically lampshades how Shen Qingqiu sealed his fate the second he pushed Luo Binghe down into the Endless Abyss.
  • Oh, Crap!: Shen Qingqiu has plenty of these moments in the episode.
    • The first is when he realizes that he's transmigrated into the body of Shen Qingqiu, the villain of Proud Immortal Demon Way.
    • The second is when he learns that Luo Binghe is already a disciple of Qing Jing Peak and has already been abused by Shen Qingqiu before. He even faints from this.
    • The third is when he sees Luo Binghe in person for the first time and sees the latter in a beaten state, causing him to fear that his gruesome fate is already set in stone.
    • The fourth is when he learns that Luo Binghe is fourteen years old, causing him to gasp and faint again.
    • The fifth is when Shen Qingqiu hears Ming Fan mention a jade pendant, which makes him realize at what part of the plot he's at. Following this, Luo Binghe also becomes nervous when Ning Yingying mentions his jade pendant to Ming Fan, and futilely attempts to stop her from saying any more.
  • Out-of-Character Alert: Shen Qingqiu realizes that for the time being, he can't act however he likes due to the system using this trope as a lock on his character. The System does tell him that the restriction can be lifted once he has earned enough points.
  • Rage Against the Reflection: Shen Qingqiu looks at his reflection while expressing his frustrations about why the original Shen Qingqiu acted like a petty and vindictive Green-Eyed Monster despite having all the privileges a man or cultivator would ask for.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Shen Qingqiu points out that the subplot involving Luo Binghe losing his jade pendant is what would plant the seeds of wrath in the young boy for the long run.
  • Rule of Three: Lampshaded. As Shen Qingqiu wonders out loud about what he needs to do in order to unlock the OOC function, the System points out that it won't answer him anymore since he's already asked the same question three times.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After realizing at what point of the story he is at by the time of his transmigration, Shen Qingqiu attempts to make a break for it, but changes his mind when the System informs him that he can avoid Shen Qingqiu's fate and remove his OOC restriction.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: In his post-blackening stage, Luo Binghe's voice is completely calm when he expresses his desire to make Shen Qingqiu suffer for torturing him.
  • Tamer and Chaster: In the novel, the reader is not spared the details of Shen Qingqiu's fate: his eyes were dug out and his tongue and all four of his limbs were cut off, leaving him a "human stick". In the donghua, he still implied to suffer the same fate, but the viewer can clearly see that he still has his eyes and tongue, and the rest of his body is placed in a jar to hide its state.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Luo Binghe's jade pendant, which is the only thing he has left of his late adoptive mother.
  • Undignified Death: Dying from choking on steamed buns out of rage is no doubt a pathetic way to go.
  • Who Writes This Crap?!: This is Shen Yuan's reaction to the entire plot of Proud Immortal Demon Way.
Shen Yuan: Rare herbs grow everywhere. Pretty ladies fall for him easily. The villains are all idiots. Super illogical plot. [...] Dumbfuck author! Dumbfuck novel!
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: While Shen Qingqiu knows about the end the scum villain will meet from his mistreatment of Luo Binghe, his distress when he sees Luo Binghe's abused state is also out of sympathy.
